Default Ice Driving School Worthwhile

Well I had loads of fun yesterday on Telford Lake at the Ice Driving/Racing School presented by the Northern Alberta Sports Car Club. The freezing rain just made things that much more interesting

The Suby is king of the ice slalom!! Didn't see everyone go through it but I dare say I went faster than anyone else. Being the only WRX there, people certainly kept an eye on my car to see how it handled the ice.

Driving home sucked though with all the crappy drivers and "sand dunes".

Where were all you monkeys? Only Wheelhop showed up to watch.

WRX nation....Represent

You need to come out to the Ice DIce ( Check other posts)

We normally have a few AWD 's to compare to.

On the other hand don't come out if being slower than a 323 and a bunch of rX-7's will make you sad

The 323's and the RX-7 run full studs. They literally chew up the track.

Hey Turkey, got any more details. I had a couple other friends that went to that. They drove a black Saab, and the other a white Golf. I really wanted to go, but I was too afraid of banging the snowbanks. Were you guys doing laps around the track, or was it a bunch of handling excercises?

Robin, I saw your friend in the Saab - he got stuck real good in the snowbank (as did many others).

We did laps on the practise track, regular track, slalom course with close cones, slalom with spread out cones, brake in "box" from speed, and object avoidance braking.

It's fun but I really think you need a cheap car so you can really give'er and not worry. I might watch the Ice Dice, though.

Yes, I was afraid to damage my car so that's why I didn't go. I'm glad you were able to keep a level head and stay out of trouble. I did the ice dice last year in my old car (a Saab) and I smacked the snow bank really good and did some cosmetic damage to the bumper trim.

'Snowbank' is just another word for 'shortcut'.
