I just want everyone to feel as though they have a say in the matter. hahaha

Actually, sometimes someone surprises me with a suggestion. Some may know him on here (usually News & Rumor section), but HipToBeSquare actually recommended FIVE:AD brand of wheels that I absolutely LOVE for style and size (19x8.5, +45, 5x100 is so sick). So, yeah, sometimes help comes from unexpected places, but you won't get it until you share what's going on.

Plus, chrome makes me giggle, so there's that.

As for the car, I plan on tracking it in the future, possibly even this summer on a few open track days. I need to still look into a front Lip/Splitter. As for the hatch, The only "big" (functional) wing ive seen is the Blacktop Aero one, and It looks awesome

Here is a pic for all the haters:
Top: Functional
Bottom: Not Functional
The stock STi wing IS functional... It helps improve high speed stability, which is why the sedan can go 5 mph faster than the hatch..

I think he was referring to the guy with the 18x9.5" Grids with stock tires on them (and a giant wing).

Big wings are cool ...ON THE TRACK. I wouldn't be caught dead with one on the street. If I was serious into racing, I would look into aero, but I'd want it to be something I could swap out so I didn't have to drive around town with it on and look ridiculous. Although at that point a dedicated track car would probably be prudent.

And even on the track wing's aren't cool without full aero and other supporting mods (sticky tires, dialed in suspension, etc). I agree that if you just throw one on it's probably doing more harm than good. If you're not a race team, I think it's unlikely (but not impossible) you have the funding to properly test/tune an aero setup. And I don't mind Rota's, but their 18x9.5's all weigh 23-25lbs

Actually, I think the DPT's are under 19lbs.

Wheel brand and wheel weight is probably a smaller part of the equation than even aero though.

wow, this thread went down hill fast. didn't realize other peoples cars made such a huge difference in your life.

is the wing something i would do for a daily? no. do i care what you do to your car that you spend your money on? no.

looks sick, just get a meatier tire and it will sit pretty. btw how do you like the dom2.5?

lets keep the bull**** to a minimum, either discussion that is relevant

OR

here is my update. should be back in a month or so...sigh

idk how the **** they managed to pop the trunk, this picture makes it looks better than it really is.

If they're fixing it, I would add one of these to the rear:

http://www.jscspeed.com/catalog/Suba...ubaru_WRX.html

Any extra bracing you can get will help with added flex.

honestly, strut bars in the trunk just take up space that i use daily. plus they really are almost useless, if anything i'd do a chassis bracing underneath the car, like the 4-point stuff etc..

btw you have sways on your car, looks like a hell of a lot of roll, and then you can see the rear left tire not getting enough contact out of the turn, with 285's you should want to putt all the rubber down and keep it on the ground.

and that first picture, i thought that fat kid is riding on a hitch off your trunk

I'm thinking he has plenty of grip if he's lifting a tire.

My wagon was t boned and I was glad to have the strut bar on it after that. The accident added some squeeks and rattles, but I was still winning autox's, so I didn't care too much and most of the time I couldn't hear them over the exhaust anyways.

I have sways. The tires would be cut to ribbons if I didn't. Those pics are on stock springs with the 24/26 front bar at 26 and the 18/20/22 rear bar at 20. I've since increased the rear bar to 22. I get my 325lb (5.8k) front and rear Ground Control conversion tomorrow. That will let me run my KONI's stiffer without being overdamped as well. Hopefully that will keep the car flatter.

I really don't mind that the tire is almost lifting at this point as long as it stays on the ground. If it lifts completely, the open diffs will let it spin and I'll lose power.

I'll be lowering the car probably .5" for racing and daily and 1"-1.5" when I want to look cool and tuck the 285's.

Regarding the guy on the bumper, when I posted on another forum, I mentioned that I had the tailgate mod.

I'm really digging the way this braces out the rear of the car. It looks to be for hatch only, though:

yupp, they dotn have AS much for the sedans, either way, before i do any bracing, if i do any more, i wants to change all the bushings to whiteline poli ones...bracing would just be the cherry on top.

Hey Jive, hope you get your car back on the road soon. As for the 2.5XTR, I think its great. I am able to run 23 PSI, and also spool very quickly. The main reason I went with it was because it was stock location, I didn't want to go with a rotated set-up right off the bat.

The only thing that wing is doing is causing the car to accelerate slower, get worse MPG, slower top speed, and horribly unbalanced handling.

There is absolutely no doubt in my mind that a 100% stock STI would absolutely smoke that thing around any track.

The wing is on his car is nothing more than a Race Inspired Cosmetic Enhancement.
I really didnt want to say anything, but damn.... I make 360 wheel, Sitting on Tein Flex, with an aggressive set-up. Please try to take me in a stock STI

Have a nice day
