It is a total waste of time, a dealer scam at that. The products are complete trash.

I will run down what a dealership "wash boy" does when you purchase Simoniz.
1) Liquid Wash Solution (strips anything on paint - prep for PPC) 2) Wash vehicle 3) Dry vehicle 4) Spray fabric protectant on seats and carpet 5) If leather seats, feed leather with protectant. 6) PPC - Paint Protection Coating (with Teflon) Teflon requires HIGH temperatures to physically bond to surfaces, and trust me, the dealership does nothing of this sort. Most people end up spending $500+ for a quick "wax" |

Use to detail, i'll revise what you said to what I use to do. (Clean or new wash mit) 1) Liquid Wash Solution (strips anything on paint - prep for PPC) 2) Wash vehicle 3) Dry vehicle 4) PPC - Paint Protection Coating (with Teflon) Let Sit 5) If leather seats, feed leather with protectant. 6) Spray fabric protectant on seats and carpet 7) Buff off PPC Pretty much I use to try and let it sit for a minimum of one hour to let it bond then buff it off. In some cases i'd let it sit over night. It makes a difference, it lasts awhile, but in no way does it work as advertised. |

A friend of mine was a "chemist" for Simoniz for years. While they did have some decent products, especially the ones I got that were in concentrated form. , the majority were just average. Walmart is one of thier biggest clients, so enough said. But the System 5, all marketing for massive profits for dealers, is nothng more that your average watered down wax....

While many a detail guy will tell someone they got "hosed", one only need to check the facts.
While it is true that anyone who has been trained in the application can apply it to a vehicle, Simoniz does offer a training CD and on-line certification test. Secondly, not one manufacturer will warranty the exterior paint from damaged caused by environmental conditions for any period of time. That is why a real coating of a product is essential. Third, if a consumer has purchased the product, why would you knock them? That is like knocking someone over the color of the car. Jasvboost, I would love to know the friend as they have no idea. Whoosh, feel free to wash with any carwash soap, no dish detergent. A real sealant will not "hide" swirl marks, only a polish can really do that. Mr. Detailer from Cary, NC, you should educate yourself on how better to serve the motoring public. Embrace the consumer that has chosen to spend more money on protecting their vehicle inside and out and how you can help them do so. By the way, you can get khaki pants with Teflon(r), do you think they bake it on in an oven? P.S. The new WRX STI is hot. The one that Subaru is showing this week at the NY International Auto Show was outrageous! |
