Thumbs up rx-8 vs g35 vs s2000 vs rsx vs wrx video

got this clip from G35 forum, very good video

Quote:
hello fellow g-riders,

check out this great video i found (stolen from the latest best motoring video dvd from japan) of the g35 (skyline) vs s2000 vs rx-8 vs wrx vs rsx type r vs roadstar convertible (in japan only).

not sure if anyone has seen this or not (so don't flame), its in japanese but my fiancee (who's japanese) translated a little bit for me. i don't want to ruin the ending but will say its awesome. the pro drivers were shocked at how well the g35 did because they thought it was way too heavy for this field of rather light cars (all less than 3000 lbs or so w/ power from 200-240, not including the g35).

the rx-8 driver kept saying the g35 was too fast on the straight aways. in fact, the g35 absolutely destroys the rx-8 so that should put to end all those posts about the rx-8. i'll put this email up on the rx-8 forum http://www.rx8club.com/ also (while not trying to piss people off, yeah right). also, the 2004 acura tl forums give huge respect to the g35. never seen anything like it: http://www.acura-tl.com/forum/showth...0&pagenumber=1

anyway, they staggered the g35 at the back of the pack based on hp i think. i can't believe how easily we dusted the wrx also (oops, had to let that one out). the g35 driver said the g35 is really powerful and well balanced. he ponders in the middle of the race that if the g35 was 2 inches lower in height like the 350z, the g35 would be simply amazing. in the middle of the race, they said the g35 was so damn heavy, but shockingly fast, as fast as the leader s2000. at the end, the commentator said that the g35 was closing the gap. after the race, the commentator said no one could believe such a heavy luxury car could finish in.... x place. won't give it away. download the video and enjoy.

click the top picture.

HOLY SH**!

I didn't realize that Nissan changed the Skyline so much. Man, just when they have a good, respectable, signature item, the go and screw it up with "rounded corners" and an "updated" look.

I hate that crap. Die, Nissan, die.

I didnt see any video but I think the Skyline you were referring [which you love so much] to is the GTR version which they havent changed, yet?!

Of course, the possibility of me being wrong is high, as usual

This is really old... but yeah, it's a slap in the face to the "sports car inspired" 8 to get beat by an unaerodynamic grocery getter WRX on a real racetrack with curves.

The JDM WRX gets more HP, AVCS, bigger brakes and 17's w/ more aggressive tires though (RE010's maybe). So I dunno if the same thing would happen w/ the USDM versions.

I like how the guy that posted it said "I can't believe how easily we dusted the WRX" W T F, is that guy on crack? The Skyline didn't even catch the WRX until the end of lap one and didn't pass it until lap 2, even then it was by better driving, not the car. I know I am slightly biased owning a WRX, but I love the G35 too. If the Skyline "dusted" the WRX, then the Skyline was annihilated! by the S2K. Sweet video.

The WRX out launched them all. But the guy was wimpy in the corners the skyline was pushing hard through out to the point of drifting through the corner the weight on the skyline is the cause of that but the wrx could have done that to at a higher speed due to less weight. He just did not seem to have the confidence to keep up. Not that I could even keep up with the guy in the miata!!!!!!!! I just think he could have done better.
Good video I am going to learn Japanese just so I can understand them.

if they are gonna run a Skyline, why not use an STI and maybe even an EVO?

I wanna know what's up with this "we" crap. "They" didn't beat a damn thing. I don't think the average G35 owner is a JGTC driver Especially since so many G35's that get sold are automatics...

First of all the WRX is not the top "racing car" from subaru.
Second: What is this guy talking about? I saw no dusting!!
Third: The driver of the WRX was braking in the curves. Why would he do this in an awd car? He did do a good heel-toe but then gave too much brake taking many seconds off of his time.
Fourth: Why was that POS miata in the race?
Fifth: Did I see the G35 actually go sideways at the end of the video? Didn't look look like he intended to do that.
Sixth. I think the 20K WRX faired very well against a 10K plus more per car crowd.

Looks like the WRX got 3rd. My biased opinion is blaming it on the driver. That was a great video though.

a few pts i like to state b4 everyone loses hope in our WRXs

1) JDM WRX is 250 hp - b/c more forged internals r used and they have min 96 octane, i know of a gas station in Hong Kong that gives 100 octane ...

2) Skyline is a name given to the series, there r several differnt skylines ie GT, GTT, GTR - there r more but depend on model year
GT is usually the 2dr look of the car with no turbo (FR only)
GTT is 2dr or 4dr with single turbo (still FR i believe)
GTR is the full fledged mythical machine with AWD and twin turbo
The one in the video was the G35 available in North America - no turbo, just naturally aspired - it is still called skyline however

3) I have spent the better part of my adolecent life watching Best Motoring whenever i could get my hands on them, and i have found that they are usually bias a lot of the time. Usually what they r testing new will be extremely fast and revolutionary such that all other cars or other version of that said car is worthless.

ie - cant recall the volume - but they had a s2000 vs new M3 vs old tuned M3 and a slew of other cars - and the s2000 led the pack all the way. I too understand that the s2000 is a spectacular car, a long time favorite of mine however, i dont think it can consistantly beat the M3. Also the M3 driver was messing around during corners, almost trying to lose traction ... i just dunno. I watch it to see how it moves on the track right now, i dont even take it seriously.

Heh Heh. Worse, actually shinsain. There IS no GT-R. They're not making ANYTHING with the GT-R badge on it right now, the R34 is out of production. Next one is rumored to be coming aroun 2k7, according to Nissan.

S15 Silvia is also out of production.
