Finally bought my first Impreza! :) Modding ideas?
Hooray, now I officially feel apart of this community. Tomorrow I'm off to complete the paperwork on my new 2005 Impreza RS that I snagged for $11,400.
Being a huge Impreza fan for quite some time, I know that the RS model has potential. What are going to be the most cost-effective mods I can make to improve performance? CAI, ECU remap, whatever. My old Forester didn't afford me much room in the way of modifications and improvements Thanks!

I would concentrate on the suspension before worrying about power. Sway bars, springs/coilovers, etc...

Yeah, front and rear swaybar is first on my list. I just wanted to get a feel for what power mods I had open to me after I've done that in a month or so.

i have an sti cbe and a sri and it is performing noticeably better, but from what i have heard your ecu cannot be open source tuned. you are going to have to get a piggyback ecu. But do that after you get all the mods on, that way you can make sure everything is tuned correctly and you are getting the most power out of it. also, lightweight pulleys and headers are good mods for the rs. honestly, you still won't be getting a lot of power, compared to a wrx. but i love my rs and i know you will too!

Being that you are 18, spending money on mods is a terrible idea. Use that money to have fun with your friends.
If you must do something, it is probably due for new tires, so get something nice when you replace them. Auto-x it in stock class and really learn how to get the most out of the car. ~~Quentin |

you will not be able to add more than 20-25whp at the MOST unless you spend as much or more than you spent for the car na subarus making more than 200whp are RARE and VERY costly |

Congratulations, the RS is a very capable car! RallyX it and AutoX it and you will definitely be love it even more.
RS25.com is a great place for RS specific information too. |

I had an 02 RS and this is what I had attached to it:
-Cobb headers + High Flow Cat -Cobb Cold Air Intake -Cobb Power Pulley -Strumong dual-tip exhaust -Gold coated engine ground kit. -WRX Aluminum Hood -Front and Rear Sti Rep. Strut Bars -Cobb Rear Swaybar I'm don't have any numbers or dyno charts, but my Butt dyno really liked the extra added power/low end torque that all these parts together did for my little 165HP RS. Good luck with your modding. Just take it easy because you can spend a ton of money in no time: |

pulley, TWE headers.
Oh, and intake too. Quote:
$500 for cams, $1000 for the TWE headers, (OBX EL is cheaper, IF you can find them), $200-ish for the intake (unless you go the homemade route), toss in another $500 for a high-flow cat. That $2000 (tops) will most likely put you over +20hp. Even better, though, is to stop listening to the turbo-weenies and stay lag-free. |

rsb, wheels, tires. that should make you happy for now. beware the perrin rsb though. i have it, and its a bit funky in its design. go with the adjustable whiteline instead. look into an alk too if you want less understeer.

If you already planned on modifying it you could have gotten a WRX for that price.
Either way, save your money for tires and autox it! |

your forester had just as much potential as your RS
that's a normal price not necessarily all that great of a buy. |

I'm pretty sure I was rocking higher than stock WHP with my setup. Didn't run me more than a couple thousand dollars... I say go the suspension route first and than go for power? Why? I dunno... just sounds like fun.
