Default Dual monitors is teh r0xmyb0x, need suggestions on what to do

I have a 18" LCD and a 17" CRT nex tto each other, its all set up with Nvidia Nview or whatever.

As of now I have my LCD be a regular desktop and the CT is an overflow screen with no taskbar, but i have a few progs running on it.

what is the best setup since im a n00b to dualview? im confused by all the nview settings, also when I am playing a game on one screen how can i jump the mouse to the other to change a song/talk on aim without minimizing the game? i cant find it in the settings, or dont know the term.

thanks

Maybe try running the task bar in the "overflow" window to give you easier access to multitasking things. Most of the guys at my work run dual screen, but I don't since I hate having my work PC and my home PC being "different" from each other. Do you know how long it was before I had a mouse with a wheel on it because of this rule?

I don't remember if running a full screen app will still allow you to use the second monitor, but this seems the primary point of doing something like this on a gaming box.

anyways, I'm curious on this one myself

I have a 17 and a 19 setup currently. If your Nvidia drivers are installed like they should be, all you need to do is right click desktop, go to properties, Settings Tab. It should show two monitors displayed. You just check "extend my windows desktop to this monitor" You can move each monitor around for how you want them to work.

Right now you can't render on both screens. What I mean is you can have a video/game full screen on one screen only. You cannot span it across both screens for an "ultra large screen". The closest you can do to that is called "mirroring" where both screens display the same thing.

In the near future, they should have graphics cards that can render on two screens.

gotcha...i'd seen the mirroring and almost everyone did it that way, so I figured that was the limitation/standard for the dualmon thing.

It's actually better to render in one only, I'd think, so you could do the original bit of playing music and keeping the "standard/utility" stuff in the overflow screen.

Dammit! I thought I was the only one who had this rule!! You wouldn't believe how many duplicate peripherals I have at work and at home. I'm tired of buying two of everything. Finally, I gave in and got a Samsung 19" panel for home...and now I'm running dual IBM 18" panels at work. Oh well.

You may want to run the game in a window, so that you can move to the other monitor.

I have a TI4200 and tried this setup with UT2003 and UT2004. Everytime I loaded the game it would error out with some DirectDraw or Direct3D garbage from DirectX (9.0b) when running programs in the secondary window. I had the same problems trying to do really graphic intensive things while trying to play a DVD. Maybe if your card is a 5950 it would have the power, but I dont think its a harware issue. Probably DX9...stupid Microsoft.
