Default 04 to 05 center console???

Anyone know what it takes??? I much prefer the HVAC controls and whatnot in the 05s...

you can get the TR center piece from the dealer so you can use cable controlled AC. If you want a full on auto climate there was also a guy who converted his to auto climate, search for it.

I swapped my 04 to 05 and i thought it was pretty easy. (found a wrecked 05) and got the entire set up for $50. pm if you want pics.

the biggest problem was that the E-brake has alot more play in it now(have to pull it all the way up for it to lock the wheels.

Not worth it man. Too much work for something so insignificant.

well to get to use the knobs from the 05 and the auto climate control yeah.. but if you run the same knobs you have now then u can do just the console swap and get the TR bezel

Didn't want to steal the thread, but since it is the topic being talked about, are the auto climate wiring the same for 04 sti compared to 05 sti? If they are, can it just be a direct swap?

If you have the 04 STi, the HVAC controls are plug and play, if not, there is a ton of wiring and extra parts you need to get, if you wanna upgrade just do the TR controls and bezels. Takes about 45mins to do the swap, you have to trim one bracket, and the ebrake cable. then you have to swap the 04 bracket to 05 bracket, that part cost me 20 bucks from SGP i think ???

This is the thread I followed when I did it

I did the swap with the TR bezel, and it looks great. I did want the climate control knobs too, but the amount of work and parts that would involve was ridiculous.

You need a complete 05-07 center console with the brackets, radio bezel from WRX TR (unless your console is from a TR), center upper ac vent, 05-07 radio brackets, 05-07 e-brake lever, and the center lower dash trim & bracket. I found my swap kit complete on e-bay and only needed to order the TR radio bezel from the dealer. Cost was about $250.00 for everything and it was a easy swap.
