Front clip looks like Nick's old car
SO happy you went through with this after doing that p-shop exercise. I really liked the plan at least at that phase. We should grab lunch soon, I'm in Potomac these days Will look incredible (if it's anything like what I've seen ) |

I lol at the plastic windows then lmao even more when Dudz said he has them too! I guess the weight savings will help braking with the cars on the trailers just playing, can you drive the car on the road with plastic windows?

Step 8: January - March 2012 -Final fabrication work (custom intake manifold, shaved strut tops, headlight buckets, intercooler piping, modify IC and rad, etc..)
After doing some mock-up work, it was at this point that I decided to bring the car back to Piper Motorsport to complete some addition fabrication work under the hood. This included: headlight boxes, shaved strut tops, some additional shaving work, new one-off intake manifold, IC piping with wiggins clamps, slightly modified turbo position to give more clearance for tubs, new v-band wastegate and dump tube, highly modified ARC radiator, modified TXS intercooler, all connections with wiggins clamps, modified HKS velocity stack to fit, AN rad fittings, alternator brackets. Some pics of the alternator bracket work: Couple of shots of the engine bay with the shaved strut mounts and headlight buckets. v-band wastegate in place lower radiator hose You can see the awesome Boomba Racing billet throttle body mocked up in place in the pics above. As much as I liked the old custom intake manifold, it was time to take it a step up to go with the rest of the build... stay tuned for the intake manifold story and photos of the ARC radiator all hacked up |

Why isnt anyone who is tubbing their car running the cage into the engine bay and getting rid of the hideous radiator support?

While race cars may also cage the front, the cosmetic purpose contemplated here was to "get rid of the hideous radiator support." But thanks for playing

yeah, as a show car with race inspired looks or a racecar... that damn rad support is flimsy and ugly stamped crap.

my question is how are you gonna bolt down the camber plates/coilovers when the strut tower top has been welded shut? my guess would be you welded studs to the tower, took the studs out of the camber plates, and are gonna bolt them in from under the tower? my brain hurts from trying to come up with a viable solution..hahahhaa

I did have a lot of work done on that piece though including grinding the flange flat and smooth on the backside of it. |

Piper can do it... They can use some flat or square stock and do it easily... Come on man, you need to have that edge over Dudley and everyone else that's doing it! You were willing to set the bar a few years ago...
I'm gonna annoy you into it!!! |

I agree with this guy. Spending massive on some parts but then a really noticable component is being looked over somewhat.

thanks sir Painted and smoothed over it looks fantastic, it's really a non-issue to me. Besides, my bumper covers it all up anyway. Last edited by StealthWRX; 07-05-2012 at 12:43 AM. |
