Am i over boosting?
I am still trying to figure out if i have issues or not, cant seem to get a answer. 06 wrx, catless tbe, running cobb stage 2 93 octane mt. My car has hit as high as 19.5 psi in 3rd gear punching it from 3500 rpm but it will just peak then drop back down and hold at 14 or 15 psi. I took some logs but my shaty computer will not recognize my ap so data logging is not realy an option. I simply want to know if i am safe with these boost numbers.

What's your target boost?
What's your actual boost? Is actual boost higher than target boost? If yes, then you're over boosting. Else, you're not over boosting. |

You should have read the Notes for the map before even installing it......Anyways here is what the notes say for 06-07 WRX...
Stage2 93 MTv300 o Fuel Requirements: 93 - 94 octane or better o Intake Requirements: Stock airbox or COBB Tuning SF Intake o Exhaust Requirements: Upgraded turbo-back exhaust o Boost Targets: ~15.2psi peak boost pressure tapering down to ~10.0psi by the 6700RPM redline, +/- 0.7psi If you numbers you are saying are spot on, then even with +/- 0.7psi, you are overboosting... |

Call cobb and see what they say about your overboosting. Then go get a pro tune

Do not touch the wastegate arm if you do not know what you are doing. Also do not buy/install an MBC for that same reason.

I have never had any issue with the grimmspeed solenoid. I had it protuned and never seen anything above target boost. Very good product.

You may want to look into the LWG map if you do find that you are overboosting.

You're spiking, not overboosting. The ECU is overshooting the initial target on approach and settles down eventually. It's not great but not the end of the world either. BTW, if you're reading your boost off the gauge, it is likely slightly higher than what the ECU is seeing in the manifold which means that your actual boost error is not as big as you think. Your gauge is likely reading off the IC which is subject to some pressure loss before the MAP sensor. The only way to accurately assess the situation is to log the car and see what is reported. Your gauge could also be inaccurate and you're sweating for nothing.

Get yourself a used laptop or PC that is capable of running the AP Manager program. Or find a friend that will let you install the program on their computer. It doesn't take cutting edge hardware to run it. Then take some logs and have a look at them or post them up. You're talking about the health of your engine here. The only way to know if things are safe is to look at your logs.
It's like saying you think you might be having a heart attack but you can't call 911 because your cell phone is broken. |

The only gauge i have is the ap itself i recently had to send the ap back to cobb because something was broken inside of it but they let me keep my car.tuned and just send it to them so i am currently not driving the car because i have no way of monitoring

Doesn't a catless downpipe cause boost creep on the EJ25's creating a overboosting condition? If I remember correctly, Cobb highly recommends a catted downpipe for this very reason. But even then a catted downpipe might cause boost creep. However, a solution to helping fix boost creep, if that is what you're experiencing to port your wastegate.
