Hey my lights were adjusted WAY LOW from factory. Adjusting them up a little was the biggest upgrade.
Don't go too high and blind people with your low beams though. It's very easy to adjust lights with a flat wall and tape. Hint- mark starting point on screw in car with sharpie marker in-case you go to far so you can start over and do it with full tank of gas. |

Can someone tell me what the exact OEM specification headlight replacement bulb part number is for the 06 Impreza 2.5 Wagon? I'm in the store right now, don't have my car here and am borrowing my buddy's phone to post this up quickly hoping to get a reply before I leave the store we're at and go to the automotive store? Yes, I did a quick search but found way too much info to sort through while I'm at a store. Thanks.

Just an FYI, according to Osram's website, the lumen output from the Osram Silverstars are 1550.

I have an 05 wrx and in my Right Headlight, the orange circular bulb in the corner which i think is the (Front Side Marker Light Bulb Size: 168) comes on only sometimes when i turn my lights on. If it doesn't come on, i can hit the headlight and itll come on. Should I replace the bulb or is it a fuse and how could i correct this problem?

this is going to sound like a beating a dead horse. I have read the first post but not the rest of the 21 pages. I have been doing a litte research. I am trying to my my foglights into off-road rally lights + other hella lights. But mainly focusing on the fog lights since it would seem like a waste of lights if i dont try to make them useful. I know HID kits are terrible to use on the road, hence why I am just using them off-road. I have read that HID at the same wattage of a halogen with produce less heat than a halogen? the problem is that i have a plastic housing and lens for the fog light. are the damages caused by the HID in fog lights do to the decreased distance from the bulb to the lens? assuming i keep the same wattage (35).

I'm currently running Osram night breakers in my lows and Narva contrast bulbs in my fog. And I have stock bulbs in my highs.Looking to do the H9 mod to my low beams and HIR 9011's in my highs. I found these for my lows http://store.candlepower.com/h-9.html I know they are Narva but not sure how good they perform. Any other suggestions for a good H9? Since I'm also looking to make my fogs as my DRL's and suggestions for my fogs? Thanks in advance for any info.

Did the H9 bulb upgrade this past weekend with Sylvania "standard performance" H9 bulb (only option at my local Advance Auto). Used the thin polishing wheel on my Dremel to carefully remove the plastic tab. They plugged in both left and right no issues.
I love this upgrade. I have been irritated with the lack of light coming from my headlights from day one. The light is "whiter" than the Silverstar ultras they replaced. It is so much "fuller." When i drive through parking lots, or at dusk, or when oncoming cars are coming - where traditionally, my headlights would disappear, I have full coverage. i am very, very pleased with this upgrade - thanks all for doing the trials to figure this all out. I was initially worried about the increased wattage, but have not had a problem. The headlights are made for this much heat (high beams=65 watt) and the cabling is almost surely the same grade for low and high beams merely for simplicity on Subaru's end. |

Yeah the H9 mod is perfectly safe and reliable. I've had mine in for over a year with no problems whatsoever.

Is this the correct HIR bulb? I need the HIR 9011 since my impreza currently utilizes the 9005 bulb.

Well my OSRAM H9 modded bulb on the passenger side just died yesterday, I saw it blow out as soon as I started the car last night.
I looked back in this thread and I bought it on 10-01-2010.. So it lasted about 2 years, 5 months or so.. I think I put on about 10,000 miles, not sure exactly how much was night driving. I went to Auto Zone and picked up an OSRAM H9 for $15. Great deal considering all the H11 Silverstars, etc were $20 up to 30$+ per bulb, and they're 55 watt, not 65 watt like the H9. All the wires and connections were fine, nothing looked melted or discolored or anything. I think the H11 to H9 mod is perfectly safe. You just have to make sure your beams are aimed correctly so as not to blind oncoming drivers, that is always the case, but more so with these high powered low beams. |

I think I'm going to start shooting out yellow foglights with an air rifle. The IIHS even says they're just distracting and are actually worse in rain and fog than white lights.
