Default Chowder Throwdown....

Anyone watch Throwdown with Bobby Flay? Right now on the food network there's a thing with some local New Yorker guy Ben Sargent and Bobby Flay where they're doing a little 'chowder' cook off.

That stuff looks gooooodddddd. The local guy made a couple different chowders, a lobster one, one other one and one where he brought a live eel!!

I just called Applebees for car side pick up, that's how good this stuff looks...

Yeah, but the camera cut away before we got to see him chop the head off!!!

Stupid Bobby Flay won the throwdown...but I'd doubt his chowder was any better. We're talking one guy who is renound for making chowder, and one who is a chef...who's going to have better chowder?

I'm pissed off about chowder! How lame is that!?!?!

.....got to go to Applebees to pick up my food....

I wouldn't have used coconut milk and curry if I was that guy. In Thai food sure but not in chowder. Flay's seemed more appealing to me.

I would definitely say that Flay's was appealing, a lobster chowder? Hell yeah! But Sargent had made one just like that earlier in the show (before he knew it was a "throwdown).

And isn't that the kind of idea with being a professional chef, to take things to the next level and use your creativity?

I thought Sargent's chowder sounded good, but I like many types of food. To a normal palate it probably doesn't sound too good.

I think he sounds really pompous. You can tell he's a sore loser. When the chick whooped him in the wedding cake episode he had that "this is so beneath me" look on his face and kept trying to push the fact that the only reason she won was because she was a professional wedding cake maker, not that hers maybe tasted better or looked better.

He and Emeril are on my most-annoying-tv-personality list. Right up there with Anderson Cooper and Billy Mays.

No doubt, but I guess I enjoy iconoclasts. Don't get me wrong; Alton's still the best chef on that network, but I get a kick out of Flay when he's being an *******.

Let me get this straight...
They head to new york for a chowder cook off? It's like going to san fran for a BBQ cook off. You want the best, you go to Maine for chowder, period.

Just watched the throwdown tonight. He did steak against a military captain and lost...I saw the chowder one too. I think it's a fun show. I like his grill recipes and want to try a bunch of them since I love to grill

That would be like challenging Lance Armstrong to a bike race, then after losing by eleventy hours, stating: "the only reason you won is because you're a professional cyclist". News flash, Bobby: Duuuuuuuuuuuuuh!

I have the biggest quasi-celebrity crush on Alton Brown. I want to have his would-have-been-geniuses-if-I-wasn't-their-mother children.
