Want to race on a road course? NERSCCA is holding a Club Racing Experience on Aug. 10th where they are loosening up some of the requirements to get out and race...not time trial, not an HPDE but a race

http://www.ner.org/announcement/club-racing-experience

What you need:
a car that can meet the safety standards of club racing
a fire suit
SA2005 Helmet

What you DON'T need:
a Hans or other SFI rated H&N restrait (though it is recommended)
an SCCA License
a Physical as required for SCCA licensing

basically, pay $250...bring a caged, safe race car, borrow a suit from a buddy and go run W2W at NHMS.

(I do not work for the SCCA)

Resurrecting this thread back from the dead....

One of the newer guys who brought an older G-body to the last SCCA event did a write up with some photo's.

If you look closely you can see quite a few Subaru's.

Thanks for posting that. I need to convince one of the other guys from BangShift.com to come with and shoot photos of the whole event, as it's hard to work, drive, AND do a decent job with photo coverage.

Problem is, I'm also their local photographer for the New England area.

I did! There's some serious body roll going on in that photo.

Reg opens @ 7 IIRC.

Yeah, I too have gone back to swapping pads at the track. There's plenty of time for that. Each event I find I get a bit more efficient and now I'm able to find time to chill and my mind right before the first session.

Anyone going to LRP with SCDA on 7/16? I'll be there instructing with my '11 WRX and my friend will be in his '08 STI.

First event for me (driving) in the past 3 years so to say I'm looking forward to it is an understatement. Still have work to do this weekend to finish it up but can't wait!

I registered for the 27th as I'm trying to get back in to track driving, and Thompson is only 15 min. from my house. Also I miss performance driving and my STi is just collecting pollen in my drive way.

However I may have run in to a problem with the new rules.

Now my car is the exact way it was last time i ran with Com in which I was signed of as safe to solo and participated in the time trial.

Knowing there was new classes I did the calculator and found my car in T90 with 21 points extra. However 17 of those points are from engine mods. This puts me over the safety limit and says I need a fire suit and and roll bar.

So knowing this I'm concerned that I might have to un-register.

Now I am doing this to get set time with the instructor so I am not Running the TT the next day. So my question to anyone that knows the rules is, do the rules for the TT safety apply to the student driving on day one?

I understand the the safety stand point from the club side. However a stock c-5 Z06 has a similar power to weight as me and a stock one could do TT with no issues.

Id email / call Tom C. and see what he says, they may work with you.

Ill be at Thompson on sunday only as i have to work. Hopfully ill get a lil more track time as my car spend about 6 hours of the last com event on jack stands, only to have to be limp'd home after only getting to go out for 1 session

For students I think you'll be able to run. Emailing Tom C isnt a bad idea either. I hope one of your mods was brakes. I was there this weekend and its a tricky track. Certainly going to hard on the brakes esp in T1 and the clubhouse turn.

I'd bring an EZUP. There isnt much shade

I'm still on jackstands from my last Thompson day. Hopefully getting this stripped and stuck turbo exhaust stud removed today. Don't think I'll make this event, sadly.

This....
It was the 1st time on a track where my brake fluid was boiling past my bleed screws.
Also, there's a nice bump transitioning from the new tracks inside corner to the straight on the old oval course.

Do you have his email?

I run race pads and stainless steel lines. Stock brembo's are fine (A lot of guys with a lot more powerful cars are running them) my car isn't that much more powerful then a stage 2 STi. I actually did a 20 min. run session already with NASA in June and I had old brake fluid in the car (didn't know i was going on till about a half hour before) and it held up.
