2013 Sti stock. Want to do a Cobb intake and box, and a down pipe. I have no intentions on messing with the ecu. Thoughts

No it's not, the stock tune blows and needs to be changed regardless, even more so with an intake or downpipe.

Just gonna have to agree to disagree. Needing a tune and being able to benefit from a tune are two different things. A car with a stock tune is not in imminent danger of failing, if it was there would be no way Subaru could make money after all the warranty repairs.

Indeed they are

Except that it is, at least on 91 octane. The amount of detonation between 3-4k at >50% throttle on my stock tune was unforgivable, and would have caused significant damage in a short amount of time if I had left it as-is. How anybody powers through this obvious detonation without chills down their spine is beyond me. It's even clearly shown on Cobb's dyno database for stock cars. I had heard the rumors, I had seen the CL/OL delay in all 07+ models, but if I had known how bad it really was I never would have driven my '12 off of the lot without a tune.

Short warranty, high percentage of aftermarket modifications, and unreasonably high oil consumption limits before repair prevent most of the claims within the warranty period. That doesn't mean that damage isn't being done.

Wow. Great response, way to sound like a Certified Subaru A$$ hats. This is a perfect example of people who have the information and are just being rude. I am assuming you don't know a lot about modifying and tuning a car, or you would have just answered.

Answer: With the addition of those modifications to your car, a tune is 100% recommended. Pro tune is a good choice, but be very critical on finding a reputable tuner. Or, you can reach out to Cobb, they would be more than happy to assist you with questions.

To reduce the chance of jerks responding to your questions, use the search engine on this website. Or use google. You are not the first person to ask this question, so search and you can get the answer you need.

Bigger injectors = shorter IPW = higher mpg reading on the stupid dash gauge.
