Default Skoda confirms the Yeti compact SUV

Quote:
2009 will see Skoda with some great plans. At the inauguration of its new technology facility in Mlada Boleslav in the Czech Republic Reinhard Jung, Skoda chairman, spoke about two brand new vehicles for next year. First, the brand new Yeti compact SUV, which will showcase at UK showrooms in late summer.

Created to rival the likes of the Ford Kuga and Toyota RAV4, the Yeti is all-terrain vehicle with a full-time 4×4 system by Haldex, with a choice of a front-wheel-drive variant for tarmac-only drivers. The engines are presently unspecified, but anticipated are a 1.8 or 2.0-liter gasoline engine and 1.9 or 2.0-liter TDI diesel unit. Skoda believes that in spite of the slowing down of car sales, the Yeti will attract fans of 4×4s who are seeking to slim down. Manufacture of a second new version, the Superb estate, will also start next year, with sales beginning early of 2010.

The estate variant will feature the same engines as the present saloon, as well as the 3.6-liter V6 that will be added to the line-up next spring in the UK. The firm is targeting owners of BMW 3-Series Touring and A4 Avant, hoping that it will be an appealing alternative to premium estates in the present financial market

exhaust one side, tow hook the other? thats quite an ingenious way to have a single exhaust while still maintaining the dual exhaust look of symmetry. i like.

While it looks interesting, having a tow hook on one side would not happen, it has to be in the middle.

Too small to be considered as a serious alternative to the 3-Series BMW station wagon. It is a better fit in the Jeep Wrangler category. Otherwise it looks sweet.

So they named a convertible SUV after a mythical beast in the frozen tundras?
