There is no difference between tuning an AP and opensource tuning aside from the program you use to do it..

Will the intercooler you choose effectively and efficiently do what you need it to for your application? Many variables need to be analyzed for you to find the answer. If it does what you NEED, then decide what you want.
... Yes the PW would be fine with the 20gXTR A majority of quality intercoolers available are capable of what most applications need. Aside from the lengthy discussion that is TMICvsFMIC... Choose the one you like best Last edited by FLEX'N WRX; 08-14-2012 at 04:46 PM. |

Motor for sure.
I have seen great results off of the stock STI intercooler. I think people generally want a new intercooler for looks at first. There are gains to be had but there are also other ways to make nice power. The WRX intercooler is known to separate on the edges and heat soak pretty bad...but the STI one does pretty well. Turbos like the 20G or the 1.5 are designed to be stock location turbos. You won't lose anything but you can gain some by going to a new intercooler. That said, I did make nice gains going to a FMIC on my setup. How much you gain will depend on what else you are doing. BUT...it's a Subaru. The motor is not if...but when. |

Black 17x7.5 Enkei EDR9 with a +20ish offset. And a really crappy side shot. Ignore the ride height, there's no transmission in there at the moment. Also with 2012 WRX Premium headlights. |

Wow I've never heard of a 7.5"wheel with a +2x offset.

Nor I, but I was always wondering why they were always so flush looking on the former owner's Subie's. I'm trying not to name-drop here, just to make that clear.
I know nothing about Neon's and their acceptable offsets. Apparently these worked fine, though. Can't wait until the transmission is put back in to see the drop. |

Hahaha You guys are funny. The reason I keep moving away from stock is because I haven't been able to AFFORD stock. Shipping to Alaska sucks and this car has pretty much been a bit of a money pit. We don't have a whole lot of wheel choices up here, and I'm already VERY picky. None of those DPT, Grids, RPF1 wheels are appealing to me, but they're up here. The bronze Enkei that I had were cool, but only because they had slim spokes and were cheap. I HATE lips on wheels. Such a waste of design. I love it when the spokes reach to the outer edges.
I didn't start working full-time again until November 2011 and I got into paying too much rent and travelling too far to work for commute starting in September of 2011. Now I'm working full-time and moving to where rent will be significantly cheaper, trying to decide where I'll go next and how much longer I want to stay in Alaska. Not to mention that our octane sucks as well as rising gas prices. Because of all this, recent woes and changing life situations, I'm selling the car, so I don't really care about the actual size of the wheels mounted. Every person interested seems more interested in how the car LOOKS, always asking, "Are those Legacy wheels coming with the car?" So, aggressive offset at 17x7.5 seems to work when compared to stock set up. Car is being put back to stock and detuned as well, so I won't be nearly as inclined to drive it after it's fixed. It'll just sit in the yard trying not to close in on the last 1.5k miles before it's out of the basic warranty, just in case a buyer REALLY wants to buy an extended warranty (pointless, in my opinion, but it's their choice). These would be EXCELLENT winter wheels, for sure. Depending on what I get next I'm thinking of picking up some local Enkei GTC01 18x7.5 +45 with Continental DW tires. Kyle will have to give them up next week or whenever I get the 2011 to the body shop to make the car look brand new. They'll need to inspect the cracks in the housings and see if insurance will cover them as well. Changing BOTH would be nice. Then I'll keep the damaged ones so I can give them to Kyle. If it's just one that gets replaced... I think Kyle's crazy enough to have just one black-housing headlight.

I've never owned coilovers before so not sure if my opinion means much, I'm still getting used to it. I really like it though, haven't had an alignment yet but things are much flatter and less floaty. Definitely feel the bumps a bit more but it doesn't bother me... yet!
Not really sure how to intelligently fiddle with the dampers, so far I've kept them equal all around. |

Listen... The lip manufacturer could have been found with a few clicks. There are numerous threads about the order of modifications. That type of post you presented clutters this picture thread. If you notice, pg. 308 became cluttered with info not relevant to any pictures posted but to a potential mod list for you. An issue that also plagues previous pages. I'm not opposed to chat at all. There are certain lines fine lines that can lead to thread locking. Please PM me and we can discuss anything. I do not mind helping, educating, and/or being educated. shows SMY cluster with Subaru Gauges Last edited by FLEX'N WRX; 08-14-2012 at 08:52 PM. |
