Perhaps because it's just a photo of an ATS with a Buick grill & headlights chopped into it? Probably about as accurate as all the 'speculative' renderings always showing up in JDM auto magazines.
Buick's design language has almost nothing in common with Caddy's 'Art & Science' look; I'd expect a complete sheetmetal re-design on any Alpha-based Buick. Anything less, and it'll be a huge warning sign that GM is heading back towards the bad old days of badge engineering. Quote:
There's already a "fun" version of the FWD Regal anyway (the GS); there's only so much more that can be done w/ FWD. The ATS starts at $35k an as entry-level luxury sedan; that's right in line with Buick pricing as well. I doubt you'll be buying the new RWD Buicks for $25k, if that's what you want (of course, that won't buy you the current Regal either, so...) Last edited by ForceFed4; 11-27-2012 at 05:08 PM. |

I saw this earlier as well. I really hope it is true. The ATS has pretty much got nothing but great reviews in comparison to the 3 series. Even with the 3 series coming out on top in most articles the reasoning behind the results are something that GM can easily fix in most cases, hopefully they are listening. The platform seems to be done right, especially compared to most of their overweight products.
I previously owned a 1998 Regal GS. Although its not the first performance Buick that comes to mind when you think of Buick legends...it was a great vehicle that was quick, reliable and fulfilled the needs of most people looking for a nice luxury vehicle...with the exception that most people weren't shopping domestics at that time. I loved the car and it treated me very well, it still has a small following of enthusiasts who modify them along with other performance oriented W-bodies. The current Regal GS was a rather large disappointment...heavy, fwd and under powered. When the Regal GS was first announced and GM was touting the performance it would provide, being based on the Insignia most people thought we were going to get a full fledged Insignia OPC with a tri-shield...little did we know we'd get a vehicle with the looks but not the power to back it up. Even though I would probably consider a used one, I am hoping GM learns its lesson and builds something that will bring new car buyers to the brand and that this ATS based vehicle will become a reality. That picture that goes with the article looks awful btw... Last edited by Gixhost; 11-28-2012 at 08:16 AM. |

GM is bastardizing the TurboT, T-Type, GN, and GNX badges. Weak.

Itd be acceptable if it had some sort of connection or lineage, the RWD platform and preferably a powerful turbo engine and not just an LS eleventy in there. Give it some technology and turbo like the originals. Tough since it was a bit of a product of its time and was mostly a 1/4 miler despite being non-V8

That said, perhaps this is derived from the current development of the Chevrolet SS. http://www.caranddriver.com/news/201...enderings-news |

I am confused by the acronyms, dont know what FTFA andTFA are, but if this in fact does get built, Ill believe the turbo V6 when I see it. I read the post, but its is far from gospel.

An ATS-V with Buick sheetmetal would be interesting. I've never really like Caddy's A&S design theme. The only one I don't mind is the CTS Wagon.

Maybe they tested the V6 turbo and then said that it goes 'against' what \V usually has? And then Buick came up with the use for it in the GN? I believe there are quite a few test turbo 6s floating around, since GM has been really sucessful with the turbo4. --kC |

That's actually a good plan if that is the case. Let the Caddy's have the V's and 500 HP. use turbo V6's in the 400 HP range to bring a younger crowd to Buick.

Boy I wanted a T Type back in the mid 80's What I'd really like is a '70 GSX
These look nice but I don't know about all this sedan stuff going on. I know Lincoln has an "executive" coupe in the works for an early/mid year '14 release and a sportier version due for later in the year so maybe Buick hits that segment too, the timing would be about right. |

Never say never... just wait till you get to a "certain age"... these are starting to look good to me Anyway. Between these and the next WRX and the Chevy SS and the potential BRZ-based sedan... there is a lot of goodness worth waiting for in the next 2 years. |

Buick is expected to get a huge influx of Cash. If they can get the right designers and engineers to turn the brand around like Caddy, there may be some good youthful products soon.

It would be a shame to have anything other than a turboV6 in any of the cars with these badges.
If the GNX has a v8 I don't want it just on principal. A TTV6 though would be awesome. |

I would love to see the Regal released with an AWD system and labeled as the GSX. They already have the Regal, Regal T-Type, and Regal GS. Add AWD to the already nice turbo 6-spd manual, increase power a little bit, tweak the suspension, and call it the GSX. |

I agree, looks a lot like the G8. I am building a '71 Skylark with a GN drive train. I have been a Buick fan since day one. This is and was my first car so the turbo 3.8 v6 is the only choice, considering I've always wanted a GN. I do not like the looks of the newer throwback's. I am bias though.

The reason I think this car is more of a GSX vs a GNX is from the RWD and V8. The GSX has a history of a classic muscle car vs the GNX's high tech Muscle. |
