Working great! Have AMD 64 X2 Dual Core in a Acer Extensa. The new Kernel's support for Hardware is just awesome.
Only started using 64bit as 32bit wouldn't install with Ibex Alpha 3 and 4 for me but 64 bit installed fine and have just stuck with it.

Tried to install 8.10 on my old laptop. It didn't play well with the ATi 9700 video card in it... running Gimp was painful, as the cursor lagged half a second behind what I was actually doing. I tried to go back to 8.04 and the official ATi driver..... it REALLY didn't play well. Xorg was eating up 99% CPU, Gimp was even slower than 8.10.... and it sucked HUGE ass

So I'm running Windows and I'm going to do a small Ubuntu JeOS install under VirtualBox with the basic crap I want.

When did you try 8.10? I recommend giving the RC a try on the 23rd!

2 days ago. ATi doesn't support Xorg 7.4 yet, with no set date in sight... so I don't have my hopes up even when 8.10 comes out of beta.

Lots of ATI stuff have been coming through the Update Manager the last couple of days if you do decide to try it again.

oracle enterprise linux is basically just a recompile of red hat enterprise. we use it for our oracle 10g/11g clusters on Sun hardware (which are actually just overpriced opteron boxes, but I digress...)

Hmm, haven't updated the gentoo box in a while as it is a p2-400 and takes forever to compile things...

Code:
Linux aklinux 2.4.20-gentoo-r8 #1 Thu Nov 27 19:51:06 CST 2003 i686 Pentium II (Deschutes) GenuineIntel GNU/Linux
hahaha. I really need to decommission that box but it still works so damn well and seems to have a smaller idle footprint than anything 2.6 based. I basically use it as a SSH gateway to my home network so I can get to things like IRC and local docs from restrictive workplaces.

I'm thinking i'll throw fedora 10 on my thinkpad once im done with my current side project consulting gig, I'm not likely to need windows on the laptop after that (I do all my loadrunner/consulting stuff on my laptop for tax purposes since I took a deduction for the purchase of the laptop)... I want to try Compiz, hopefully the radeon x300 can handle it ok...

Was on Slackware 12.1

I f'd up yenta and d-bus by screwing with the code to get around my weird ACPI implementation, and am now running Fedora 10 (dev).

That's right. 10. Not 9.

How is 10 going?
Want to give Fedora 10 and the new Mandriva a shot soon once i either build up a new desktop or get around to buying a external HDD.

Wouldnt mind trying Slackware and Gentoo either but im still a bit of a Linux noob.
