Wrap looks good so far. You going to go with some flat black wheels when all is said and done? That would make for one helluva stormtrooper.

Thanks dude! I'm definitely going to keep the BBS I have because I really like em...
I'm gonna powdercoat them for sure. What I am not sure about is the color. I'll either go with gloss black or white. Hard decision! Gloss black would really set off the look with the black accents of everything else I plan to do.

Got some more work done today...passenger side almost complete and bumper.

Enjoy:

Not to thread jack, but I have the gloss black roof and gloss black mirrors. With tint it really pulls the look together.

Looks gorgeous, I'll be doin this too. Whats the main reason you did it? I'll be doing it as a color change and paint protection.

What's the cost of the wrap to do the entire car and where do you buy it? Does it lay on nice or is it more like tinting where you have to fight bubbles and wrinkles?

Car looks amazing, so jealous

Thanks man... Main reason was to be different! Set myself apart from the crowd! The majority of Sti's in my town are SWP. I had an OBP '06 2.5i that i recently sold and also had an OBP '11 Wrx. I got tired of black and keeping it clean in the desert! So I went with white this time but unfortunately we don't get an aspen white option with our '11-'12 Sti's
And that's what i've wanted since '06 (I'm not really a fan of the hatches)! Finally got the chance to do something about it. I decided to go matte because i knew i wouldn't be seeing anyone with a matte white '11 sedan!
But the other main obvious reason was to paint protect! Not worried about swirling/polishing/waxing etc anymore!

Cost is like $500+. That all depends on exactly how much you buy, prep materials, tools, etc etc. Lastly don't forget TIME!
TIME = MONEY$$ Never forget that one!
I'm not gonna lie... It is not easy. Patience is KEY! It would be much easier to learn on a less aggressive shaped car first. Then work to something more complicated. It takes time to learn how to work the material and get an understanding on how it behaves. It's something i can't really explain. More like a hands on learning experience.
Thanks though!

the matte white looks so "white" compared to the swp. looks good. i'd keep the mirrors white though.

It's crazy isn't it!? I didn't expect it to be that drastic at all.

Well i have a few new pics to share. I decided to "mod" some pieces while they are off the car... I have been wanting to do some badge work and now couldn't be a better time for it!
Enjoy:

I would be careful with powder coating forged wheels. I have the same BBS and have been craving a black wheel. Did a little research and found this thread. It seems there are still mixed opinions, but overall BBS doesn't promote powder coating the forged wheel.

Just wanted to give you a heads up. Car is looking great by the way. I like the wing better, but it's all opinion :P. I like the subtlety of the flat white. Seems almost stock to the average person. It stands out without screaming "hey look at me!"

Hey no worries man i appreciate that! But yes i did some research myself and came up with the same discussions! I had my '11 Wrx wheels powdercoated by a local shop that understands the lower temp, longer duration powdercoating of forged wheels... I know the wrx probably aren't forged but oh well. I've wanted these wheels black for awhile now so I'll pull the trigger on powdercoating them and be the Guinea pig for everyone
I thought about just painting them but you try doing a perfect job prepping and painting 72 spokes and let me know how out goes! Lol i can barely find the time to inch my way along this vinyl wrap project i have going on!
Thanks for the comments though man i appreciate you getting my back on that topic!

Any opinions on the matte black emblem surround? I'm half and half... I kind of think it's not as clean looking as i had imagined.

Not a problem, I'll need to subscribe to this to thread. Excited to see this car finished, you need to et her back on the road . Keep us update when you powder the wheels as I'm very interested in the outcome.

Love the TMIC stencil in black. I just receivedine from forum user Thought and just need to pick up some red high heat rattle can and find the time to do it.

Again, really like where you are going with this project. Everything is subtle enough to look stock, but if you know what you are looking at it all works together and stands out. Keep up the good work and keep the pictures coming.

I got mine from "thought" aswell. I screwed up though and painted it matte black instead of gloss lol. I got excited and didn't want to wait so i just did it and now i regret it. Still turned out good though so no complaints there!

Thank you Kattty,
I don't like it very much to be honest so i won't be keeping it this way. And I actually painted it matte black. I'm going to be sanding the black off and vinyl wrapping it gloss black to see if it flows any better. If not, i'll just put the new chrome ring on.
I'll try and get a picture of it on the car today and post it up just for reference, but i think it looks wierd just about the gloss black trunk trim
I'm sure some will agree.
