Djent, I received some cash back, great finance rate, and they allowed me to keep 2012 pricing, which was a great deal. It was frustrating at times, but I just kept head in game, and used the extra weeks to put money aside as if paying for her. This allowed me to put even more down, saving substantially on my monthly payment.

As for driving the manual, I noticed the STi's clutch engages much faster than wrx, I haven't stalled a vehicle in a long time, and have stalled mine twice since I purchased it forty miles ago. Be patient, get into a wide open parking lot, and learn the friction zone of clutch (where it's starting to catch to fully engaged) once you get real good with smooth taken offs, work on slow maneuvering like backing into spots/parallel parking, then hill holds. It will come fast, just be patient and listen/feel the car. If it feels forced, your rushing it. Most people let out clutch too fast because they feel taking off is taking too long. Your clutch and throttle feathering will get better with experience. Best of luck.

Try ordering a Ferrari Enzo, F430, F599, or Aston Martin DBS to see how long you will have to wait. (Current ETW is 2 years + lol). Lamborghini LP640 & Mercs AMG have 18months + wait. You're barely over 1 month since ordered and you're complaining?

I'm glad you finally got your car and some incentives. And great tip for practicing. I did just those when I was getting ready for my car lol. I even spend like an hour just starting the car using only the clutch and no gas so I can get used to knowing the friction point and such.

Ordering a hand built limited run car for over $150k is a lot different than buying a production car that cost less than $40k.

BTW: My business partner just ordered an M6 fully loaded with carbon fiber roof and hud display. It came in less than a month and that was a special order car and a low run edition. He got his car and I am still waiting on my STI.

So yeah - waiting 10+ weeks for a production car does suck, because it is not the norm and not expected.

So you're learning to drive stick on a 35k car? I pity your transmission.

Dealer told me that Subaru just started informing the dealerships of what ship the car was on and it's scheduled arrival date (this is New England!). My car is due to arrive in Davisville on 12-22, which is 13 weeks to the day after order.

Order date 9-22
VON 9 days later according to the dealer ( I never saw one)
Partial VIN 11-21 (didn't see that either)
VIN 11-26 or so
Port arrival 12-22
dealer arrival between 12-26 and 1-5

Well those cars are "production" cars too lol. They're just extremely hard to get. Since Djent was comparing it to "exotic" cars I just wanted to tease him haha. I think your friend got his BMW so fast is because no one likes them so it's just sitting there ready at port!!! pfft haha jk. Ok here's a better example. Try ordering a Mercedes C63 AMG to see how long it'll take.

Well again, what better way to learn than to jump off the deep end. Just go pick up the car and drive it home. You'll be fine. It's not like you've never driven stick before, so from that point on it's just a matter of practice. Stop a few times along the way and/or take the scenic route and by the time you get home you'll feel like a pro. You won't really be a "pro" for another 6 months or so, but you'll be able to get around just fine.

+1 The 4 hour drive will be plenty enough time. After an hour of driving with a few stops here and there you'll be fine.

Woooo just got word my dealer can source a car in the exact spec that I ordered!!! Which will make my total wait time about 3 weeks since I placed my order. I think I should buy a lottery ticket tonight as well...

Who are you working with? I'm working with Jenn; I ordered on 10/28 and she gave me an ETA of 12/26 a week ago. I asked her on Monday how things were going and she said that apparently they're getting my 4-door base PBP STi on 12/17 . I'm not sure I believe it, but I could potentially have the car by late next week o_0. Doesn't help I haven't seen the car "In Transit" on their web page at all either, and I thought that even sold orders showed up there.

I'm hoping nothing funny happens. We agreed I would be paying invoice when I placed my order, and I e-mailed her to verify and she just dodged the question. I'm half expecting to go and do the paperwork and they turn around and make me pay more than we agreed on since I never got a form stating the agreed upon price (it's just written down on a piece of paper...).

Was planning on just letting them do the clear bra / tint as well.

I was being careful and ask them to write me the price we agreed on a piece of paper and the sale manager signed it to verify. But the dealer should honor that price for you if that's what you agreed on. They'll have a bad mark with Subaru if the car ends up registering to another name because of the whole fake orders ordeals that was going on a couple months back. At least that's why my salesman told me.

Same here.

The dealer actually wrote up a form with the OTD price and had me sign it. I thought this was standard protocol?

Just picked up my new DGM STI hatch.

Ordered 9/26
VON 9/26
Status "on order" the entire time until it changed to "Shipped".

received an ETA same time I was told it was shipped.

Picked it up. Worth the wait.

Thanks for all the updates from everyone for the last 11.5 weeks, helps going through it together

I totally hear you on all fronts. A year ago I started pricing and was working with a great guy named Craig. He was really upfront, honest and gave me all the info I wanted, but I wasn't quite ready to pull the trigger. When I finally got serious around September this year, that guy was no longer there and I started working with Jared. He's been alright, but was hesitant to give me much info up front. I finally ordered with him at invoice plus a couple hundred for my add-ons. In a lot of these posts, I see people haven't received much info. I'll never forget when I gave him my card number for the $1,000 deposit, he ended it with "call me in a month and I'll give you a status update." I was thinking, wait a minute, shouldn't you be updating me on a $25k purchase? Hmmmm. Lol. I know these guys are busy, so I sort of let it go.

I never got anything in writing, as this was done over the phone. I was looking at some of these posts and was jealous that I didn't ask for an order detail. I have the price written down on a sheet of paper and am going to make sure to hold them to that. They did beat all other places in the metro area and New Mexico in pricing. I emailed Jared with an request for status and he said ETA of 12/30 and he'd call me once it hit the lot. That was 10 days ago, but I sent him another email today reading your post hoping it would be sooner. I did have slight anxiety about nothing in writing anywhere. They do the most volume in the nation, is what I've read, so I'm being a little too trustful, maybe. Also hoping nothing funny happens.

Yah, if they try to dick me by raising the verbally agreed price I'll request my deposit back and leave. If they won't give back my deposit, I'll probably do a chargeback of some sort (especially since you never sign anything saying they won't give it back). Either that or I'll think about one of the BRZs on the lot xD. My backup

I doubt though that Heuberger would act like that, there's a reason they're #1. They offered me a really crap trade in value on my wrx, especially since I know they'll turn around and sell it for double or more than what they give me for the trade. Was planning on hopefully private selling it by the end of next week so I'll be without a car for a while waiting on them to get the STi "ready."

Your car should be earlier, considering my ETA moved from end of December to 12/17 too. Like I said though, I'm still highly doubtful that they're coming on Monday...we'll see.

Yeah, I would be surprised if they get it in before the 12/30 date, but I would gladly welcome it. Originally the guy said late January, so a month early would be great. I'll post anything I learn and if you learn anything, post it, as well. This thread is helpful for people waiting.

I'm not sure if they're giving you guys the actual ETA or the "Scheduled Date" which is the date the car is scheduled to arrive at port. I have a Scheduled Date of 12/18 and ETA of 12/31. SOA rep said depend on their work load they may have the car at the dealership 1 week prior/after 12/31 because of the holidays. I'm hoping earlier so I can use those days I have off to install my stereo set up and detail the car.

Yeah, the sales guy said it was an ETA of 12/30. When I got that response, I also asked him to not put the dealer badge on the car. Oops.
