Prodrive Oval-Tip on Stock '04 Sedan
I know this has been covered many times before, but another opinion wouldn't hurt, right? Anyway, I picked one up last Friday from my dealer who happened to have two in stock, then got it installed the next day.
Looks: Well...it looked fine to me. The tip was polished-nice and shiny! I paid no attention to the welds figuring it's going to be under the car and I won't be able to see it. Regardless nothing jumped out at me saying this was anything but good work. Installation: Easy. Took probably 15-20 minutes. (Thanks to slvwgn and Arnie for installing it for me). Anyone should be able to do this, as long as you have the tools and jackstands (which I had neither of). Sound: LOVE IT!!! At idle it's barely louder than stock. In fact I'd go as far to say that the overall volume is the same, just a different spectrum shape (ie: more low-end/bass). With my windows up, I can't tell it's there except under acceleration. Excellent burble sound from the outside. Power: Probably none. I couldn't "feel" any difference between this and stock. It is only an axle-back after all. Overall Impression: I truly had my heart set on the Scoobysport, but wasn't about to spend over $600 for an axle-back. So it came down to this or the Stromung twin-tip. Seeing as how oval-tip Prodrives are becoming more rare everyday, I just took the plunge and bought one. I'm not disappointed by my decision. I love the fact that those who didn't know any better probably can't even tell I have an aftermarket muffler. Heck, sometimes I can't even tell! I have noticed a significant change in driving style now. I find myself shifting later, and accelerating a little harder just for the sole purpose of hearing the Prodrive. This mod was soley for the sound, I knew I wouldn't get any power out of it, and that's exactly what I got. Cons: Part of me wishes it was a little louder at idle (It's barely noticable from the driver's seat with windows up, and only slightly noticable with windows down). Also, a big con is now it's begun - This was my first "power" mod, and now I've got an itch I'm just too afraid to scratch. I think that's enough for now, I'll edit if I think of anything else. Also, look for some sound data in the technical forums in the coming week or so, once I gather all the data and put it together.

I got mine from a local dealer. Where are you? If you're in SoCal (LA area) then there's one available. But finding a round tip should be no problem. The oval-tips are discontinued which is why I bought one. Check any of the vendors on here, I know a lot of them carry Prodrive products.
