ya i know that. but im too lazy to do that hehe . will i pass aircare with all the cats except the turboxs uppipe? because to uninstall/install the uppipe u need to take out the turbo, intercooler and u need to drain the coolant. thats hella too much work for me to do.

try this >> keep revving constantly on your engine to 1500-2000 rpm for 5-10 minutes before you go in, don't let off the gas until you get off the car, the aircare guy will come to you and pick up your gas cap, I guess it's still ok to gas it around 2000 rpm, just keep it quiet when you cheat (ok! ) don't make it loud ! then, once they ask you to pull over to the wheeler thing, then stop doing that, get off the car, let them do the test....
I failed aircare before with my previous car with a bad O2 sensor, but I passed with an early pass showing on the machine. Well, thats how I cheated, But make sure, you drive your car for a long distance before you aircare. Make sure it's warm. Drive normal, don't race it before aircare. Thats just some tips from my machanic before. good luck |

yeah the uppipe can stay in since that cat is only good for cold starts. as long as u are not getting an egt-related CEL it should be okay.
the turbo has to come out? i thought cody at total said he can swap the uppipe/downpipe w/o having to remove it... maybe i was wrong Last edited by Benjamin Tang; 10-23-2003 at 12:47 PM. |

Just replace the cats from your down-pipe center pipe. It is a fairly basic swap and will get you through no problem. You DO NOT need your up-pipe cat. BUT, make sure the car is totally warmed up before you go in and make sure not to turn off your car while waiting.
As for installation of the up-pipe you do not need to remove the turbo or empty your coolant. |

at least now i know that the uppipe install is a do it and forgot it. i was getting worried that i wouldnt pass aircare and would have to do the install every 2 yrs. but now jump for joy thanks guys |
