OMGHi2U One car question, one plane question

Car question:
My parents' elderly Legacy wagon idles roughly when it's cold. If I move the gearshift lever from D to N, it doesn't idle as roughly, and seems to be smoother. Why?

Plane question:
How do I get something past security? No just kidding. Sorta. Can I bring back a 24 case of beer on the plane from Pittsburgh to Boston, or is that illegal?

Raj

Are you going to check the beer as luggage? I've lugged back loads of beer and cider from England for the wife, now one seemed to care.

I was hoping to just bring it as hand luggage so I don't have to wait in the baggage claim.

I don't think you can bring it into the cabin with you, but checking it should be no problem at all.

Drink said 24 pack before boarding the plane, you will be technically "Carrying it" while on board the plane. Problem solved.

N(eutral) disconnects the engine from the transmission - so you no longer have 4 axles and a prop shaft that want to rotate

What year is the legacy - might be good to install the updated knock sensor and beat on it for a while.

When I was in San Jose I bought a few bottles of wine and carried them on in my dufflebag. No problem. Just call the airport and find out. Make sure not to use your real name

I've brought back bottles of liquor on a plane before, so I don't see why not.

If the beer is in a cardboard box (not just in the 30-pack or whatever) you should be fine - I brought a case of wine as carry-on a couple years ago.

You guys are hilarous, really

I think I'll get through security, then see if I can get it inside the airport and carry it on.

Rog - I think it's a 98 Legacy Wagon.

Raj at security at Logan: "Can I take on this 24 pack of metal canisters disguised as beer? It's sealed real good and you can't see what's really inside them with the x-ray."

Security: "Hi, I'm Fred and I'll be your security assistant for today. For appitizers, we'll start with a body cavity search and progress from there."

Raj: "Oh, come on, it's not like I'm some kind of suicidal terrorist or anything."

Security: yelling to his supervisor: "Hey Al, you wanna pry open each and every can in there?"

Raj:

Exclamation

shakes head... You looking to get deported?

I'd be suprised if they let you fly after that book episode...

Then again this is the US, and our GREAT homeland security will probably put his name on a list in about 5 years. Or my favorite... Divert his plane after he took off because he might be a threat?? (I still dont get this at all)

And fwiw All the people that cried "Oh thats wrong" or "Thats so unfair"

WHY? Nothing against you Raj, but you look middleeastern and you were reading a book about SUICIDE BOMBING in a frikkin MALL.

What part dont people get here? How are we supposed to keep things (semi) safe around here if we cant even question (again no offense) A terrorist looking dude reading a terrorist sounding book in a large public gathering place ???

You people that think that its sad he got questioned need to get your heads checked.

I mean honestly... whats the big deal? If they took him to the station and "Really" ID'd him and kept him a while... I could see that as being seen as a little much, but even still. I dont understand how you can get mad about what took place. If he was reading "Barneys life story" or something and that happened, Sure maybe that would be a bit much, but come on...
