I'd leave a photocopy of a check written out to the dealer for MSRP, along with a nice note that says, "You can sell this car today, right now."

Most likely wouldn't get me the car, but it'd be worth a try.

Hey, that dealer wants to be #1 in Customer Satisfaction, right?

$20k over?
Here's a fine example (you do the math):

Quote:
New 2015 Ford Mustang Shelby GT350

$131,999

https://www.cars.com/vehicledetail/d...7641/overview/

Does this mean the buyer (idiot) would be paying insurance on the purchase price?
****, I'd guess in a strange way, you'd want to, because if it were stolen or totaled, you'd only get the MSRP (or less) money back.

Question: Who is more stupider, the guy who tries to sell a Mustang for $132K, or the guy who buys a Mustang, rare or not, with an ADM >5K?

I think this is debatable.

Same. I may buy a RS, I may wait and get a 350. But, if Ford's dealers remain dicks I'm not buying any of their stuff, ever.

The problem is, would that even affect Ford as long as there is some a**hole with money to throw around and eat the ADM price

I find it crazy at all the ADM business happening in the US. A local dealer up here in Canada has 5 GT350s on their lot selling for within $76k CAD depending on options. That's $59k USD.

Happens all over. A local Subaru dealer had a 1500 ADM on the Hyper Blue Series that came out last fall. People will pay it, and that is why you have these situations.

I bought my GT350 from Mike Sperber at Asheboro Ford in NC. He's the dealership owner. No ADM and I know he's got a few FoRS allocations at MSRP. I think he's getting another GT350 as well. Easy to deal with, great guy, and I'm obviously biased, but if you're looking and willing to travel some then he's worth talking to.

As luck would have it, in May my car rental company gave me a v6 equipped Mustang and last week they gave me a the 2.3 liter ecoboost. As an aside I always rent a "Ford Fusion or equivalent" and have yet to drive a Ford Fusion.

My 2 cents worth is that the V6 felt sportier. Probably not as fast, definitely had to wind it out more to get power but it was far more responsive, sounded better and felt better suited to the hair dresser special than the boosted engine. I was actually quite impressed with both cars, particularly in the transmission department. The ecoboost had quite a few neat-o read outs such as air inlet temperature, cylinder head temperature and boost/vacuum. I have no doubt it would be capable of better fuel mileage but given that these were rentals I didn't bother with measuring or maximizing the mileage.

I don't care. My interest in their stuff is waning quickly. The more I see of this ADM bs with the 350 or RS, and the issues with the RS, the more I don't want to buy any Ford, evah. I prefer Japanese autos made in Japan. I think if I'm buying Murican it's gonna be the Tesla.

Ditto. I was sitting at my computer today and realized I can get a 997 Carerra With 50k miles for the same money as a Focus RS. I already got an insurance quote, $85 a month for the 911. At least the Porsche will hold its value and hold together. I HAVE always coveted one since I'm a motorsports fan.

I think the whole ADM thing is bull**** personally, but it's those who choose to pay it that take on the financial risk. If supply catches up to demand (which I think it will on both the 350 and RS) MSRP or possibly lower will be the norm. All those that paid ADM will be eating it, even more so in the case of the RS if it doesn't hold value all that well.

Yes, buy a real car! Some (few) new cars are cool, but I think the most fun cars are already behind us. Also fun to keep it, learn everything about it, and do all the work on it yourself. I am trying to amass a collection that I will keep until I can't drive them anymore. No more selling/trading in unless I make a mistake and buy the wrong car.

You are so right. I think it would be an awesome experience to buy a 997 S model and keep it for a long time. More special chassis, designed for racing. Possible appreciation due to turbocharging of 911. Not entirely unreasonable running costs, from what I've read tires are the biggest expense. CPO cars come with a 2 year warranty that I can beat the crap out of it during. Hmmmm...

Fresh off the presses (this happened this morning) yet another a**hole demonstrating his inability to drive his car in a straight line leaving a C&C in Houston, nearly killing some adult & children bystanders and ruining for all Mustang owners elsewhere.

Seriously? What did that driver have to say for himself/BS excuse after he got out of his car?

I honestly think a night in jail could do him well.

Ugh, More money than brains. Way to go! F***ing it up for everybody. And you wonder why TC and ESC are defaulted to ON. Luckily for mr. midlife crisis and can't drive for ****, no one was hit or his sorry butt would have received a crowd-sourced ***whooping. [/rant] Seeing this kind of crap just pisses me off...
