There are a few threads going for that. 2 people on here, MINIz guy being one of them, unfortunately are without their cars while Subaru tries to figure out the problems. MINIz has a transmission if I recall, one other had a airbag seat sensor issue.

Minor issues
- some have had moisture in the headlights which appears to be normal & clears up on its own for most.
-a cranking/starting problem for 2 I think
-moisture in the doors/window housing area
-much debate on the audio quality & quality of the OEM tires. I personally am happy with both
-debate about CVT

You have to keep in mind, only a sampling of people who have their 2012 Imprezas are actually on here. Only a few on here have the issues. I have had one minor, but that's what warranties are for. We can't really get an idea of what optimum mileage will be until we're out of winter. More often than not online is where you find complaints but not everyone looks for a forum to tell us how happy they are with the cars. There are many more out there happy than the few that are not. (MINIz guy - I really am sorry you're one of the few with the issues & that you don't have your car at the moment. Hope you get it back soon)

Overall, I love this car! Love how it drives & handles, the AWD & traction control, love the looks of it.

But this is a picture thread.... so go to News & Rumors & find 2012 Impreza Thread if you want to read the thousands & thousands of those other comments.
Transmission issue you say? On a 5spd? Man, sounds all too familar. I'm currently looking to replace my 2008 Outback because I had to get my 5spd completely rebuilt at 30k

I was/am considering the new Impreza as a replacement...more specifically, the XV Crosstrek. Hoping that many of these small issues are resolved by then.

That sport mesh grill looks nice! I have Dark Grey Metallic too & I love it! I've seen the two-tone with Dark Grey & Black & that's pretty hot too.

I looked a dark blue sport today. Comes with front splash guards, crossbars, cold weather and more...the catch is it is a 5spd. I am trying to thumb through the giant 2012 impreza thread to to see how peeps are liking the 5spd.

I've only owned two cars over almost twenty years, and both were GMs with automatics. The manuals I occasionally drove, say 15 years ago, were mainly trucks. I tried to test drive various manuals when I was car shopping, yet basically I'm a novice.

Personally I think the 5 speed is fine. I wouldn't have minded if it was geared at lower RPMs for interstate, but I figure the 5 speed in the Mazda 3 may have had even higher RPMs at similar highway speeds. Like the reviews say, if you want acceleration at highway speeds, probably plan on using 3rd. Since I haven't driven manuals in traffic, the hill hold feature gets around my main worry, rolling backwards on steep inclines. I'm still able to kill the engine at times, and at least it only requires pressing the clutch to start, unlike the Jetta I tested. I'd call the manual easy to use, similar to the Cruze or Altima, and the clutch seems less touchy than the Genesis Coupe. Right now I generally like the 5 speed, and I absolutely loathe how the Impreza handles in the wind.
