Default Why did you buy your sedan rather than the hatch?

This is not to be a 'which is better" thread (they're both great). But specifically why you chose the sedan?

I am so much in the camp of the hatch, for both the cargo room, and for what I believe is sportier yet classy styling, and can't see any purpose for the sedan. Not judging, just me.

So, do you like the styling better of the sedan or for some other reason didn't want the hatch?

EDIT: I really didn't want to know why people got the wagon, that's kind of obvious - looks and utility. I'm really wanting to hear from sedan owners. But I guess this is open to everyone.

I believe the sedan is just more raw; the hatch just makes me think of soccer moms with a heavy foot.

That's what I like about the hatch, slightly more sleeper look, but not really as it still has an aggressive look.

When a coworker saw it she said it looked like my old one (2005 wrx wagon) but sportier.

You can't easily hide dead bodies in the back of a hatch, that's the only downside I've noticed.

Mine was the opposite, my wife didn't like the hatch, so I got the sedan.
We agreed that if I used our tax return to get my wrx it would have to be a sedan (I don't know why she didn't like the hatch). In the end, next year she gets to use the tax return to get a boob job. win win for me

You might not care about my opinion since I have bugeye but I got a sedan because I like the way the look a lot better than the bugeye wagon. If the wagon had fender flares, I'd like it more but I really just like the look of the sedan more. Would be nice if the seat folded all the way down rather than just having the pass through though. I don't really find that I wish I had the wagon instead ever.

If I got a new car, I would still get a sedan most likely. Just like the look of a sedan better.

I bought the sedan because i didnt want to stick out to much from other cars. Thats also why i chose the color silver.
I regret this decision because of the limited space and i keep on leaving the keys in the trunk and locking myself out. This happens a lot because the last car i had was an rsx, which was a hatch.

My first WRX (2010) was a hatch. The only thing bad about it was the "Ricer" tail lights. Saw all the threads about using film, tint, etc and just didnt convince me that was the way to go. So I bought the 2012 WRX sedan. I like both but my next one will be another hatch just because its so much more useful for me.

Always wanted a 04/05 STi sedan since I was about 10 years old and always told myself I'm going to have one. Well 8 years later I got my dream car!

I always wanted an 04-05 style. The blob eye was always my favorite so I bought an 05 STi back in 2006. Totaled it in 2011, Got another 05 STi last year. Like I don't think I can drive anything else after owning an 05 STi.

Hatch was the only thing available in my area. I wasn't really one side or the other, I just wanted a WRX. When my car popped up I jumped on it. I absolutely love the utility of the hatch.

Nothin better than stuffing 4 wheels with tires in there as well as a full sized jack and 4 stands.

I think the original bugeye wrx sedans is what i fell in love with a long time ago. And when i could afford to buy one, i wanted to buy something newer, and the closest thing to my once dream car.
Hatches...i dont know...i know when your inside of one, you dont really notice a difference, but i always feel more cramped. I had a 95 civic hatch before for a few months, and i think that may have made me completely biased towards hatches. I always felt like a giant inside of one of those tiny Italian cars, any time i was in the civic.
In the future, unless i really needed the hatch space for something on a regular basis, i would stick with the sedan if/when i buy another one.

I have terrible taste and a psychological condition that makes me pee my pants when I can fit snowboards and skis in my car.

I prefer the look of the sedan and there's not that much more useful room in the trunk since the backseats don't fold down flat. New 5 doors/hatchbacks have a boy racer feel combined with an old man's station wagon feel for me. Hahaha

That is my only qualm with my sedan.
