I personal have shot and drove at the same time...and it sucks...you can get lucky and get good shots. but its usually not what you really want...really need someone to drive and you hang out the window!

I know it's not a picture of a car but I was just trying something different.

I haven't read through all 101 pages, but in my personal photography experience, I don't think you should use any slant when a horizon line is visible.
This is such a beautiful photo, but I just can't get over the horizon slant: |

Unfortunately I end up taking a TON of shop photos, so I feel your pain. This is pretty good though! You're just a tiny bit left of center on the car, and it could use a tiny bit of straightening. The main thing that bugs me about this photo is that white sign on the wall. I'd either clone it out completely or change it to a different color (and probably add a logo of some sort) so it doesn't stand out quite so much or look out of place.

Your car looks fantastic! Do you have an intake being fed through the passenger side foglight hole? The slant of the lines on the garage door really bugs me, and it's not quite the easiest fix since the car is already level. It's a pain in the ass, but it would be worth it for the overall photo.

I think that a polarizer would've helped with the window glare/reflections, but I also think that it might look better with the car at the bottom right thirds cross point. I find the snowy trees in the background more interesting and appealing to the eye than the snow-covered road in this particular case.

Nice detail shot! You could use a tiny bit of highlight recovery to try to get some of the lines back from the top of the main star, but you don't want too much because then it'll start to get a little faded.

Hello there, if you can't tell by my post count I don't post here to frequently. I was directed here by one of my buddies who does photography and I figured I'd put my stuff in here to get some feedback(good or bad). So, here goes! Please let me know what you think!
Camaro B&W by Sh3itskees, on Flickr Camaro Rear by Sh3itskees, on Flickr Camaro by Sh3itskees, on Flickr Camaro by Sh3itskees, on Flickr Camaro by Sh3itskees, on Flickr I know these ones are a bit off because of the rather large building coming out of the top of them, but I still like them. Other than the obvious problem of the building coming out of the top, can anyone give me some other criticism on them? I'm planning on going back to the same location here very soon at sunset and going at it again to see what I can get. I also should be recieving my CP and other assorted goodies I bought today in the mail. Thanks for taking a look! Camaro by Sh3itskees, on Flickr Camaro B&W by Sh3itskees, on Flickr |

I think that you're on to something with the composition of the third one, but you definitely need to go back at sunset or sunrise to get some better light. Also, I'd look at adjusting the photo to get the line of train cars straight as they're currently leaning uphill compared to the frame. Based on the EXIF data it looks like you're using a D5100. Are you using the 18-55mm kit lens too? It'd be nice to have a shallower depth of field, which can be tough depending on what you have for lenses. One thing that I've recently started doing is "cheating" by using a longer lens (I really like my 55-300mm f/4.5-5.6 at 200-300mm) to compress the image. Another option would be to shoot a little more wide open than you currently are (Looks like you were at f/6.3) and position the car a little further away (Talking a few more feet perhaps). Quote:
The buildings wouldn't be as big a deal for me if they weren't shooting out at a weird angle, but I agree that you should try to avoid them when you go back. |

By the way, I'm dying to show you guys some photos that I took this weekend of Hershey's RX7, but I need to wait until next week when the feature is released. Here's his For Sale ad so you know what to expect of the car itself: http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show....php?t=2471445
Let's just say that a brand new set of tires was all but destroyed during the photo shoot. I picked up a Tamron 17-55mm f/2.8 a few days earlier (Poor man's Nikkor, I know ), but so far I'm pretty happy with it. Definitely nice to have a fast wide angle zoom! |

I guess that cheating is the wrong word. I meant it more in that I'll shoot at 200-300mm wide open (Which is f/5.6) since I don't have a fast lens longer than 50mm. If I had an 85mm prime or similar, I'd love to do a comparison sometime. |
