Thumbs up Just installed JCSports intake

Just installed my JCSports intake a couple of weeks ago. I was wondering if it supposed to make that loud of a noise under harder acceleration.

I love that sound too!!!! I just installed mine a week ago and I love it. The air wooshing through the filter and intake is music to my ears, especially above 3500.

A lot more than I expected. Before it was a smooth ride up to 4k, but now after 35, it gets this surge that you can actually feel in the car. Imagination maybe but I think it extended my redline too, which was 6k, and now sounds more like 7, 75.
JC's site says they add 13.5 hp.

Thumbs up

It did add some power. Subie Chick is right. It gets this power surge like it just got injected with car steroids at 3500. After I got it installed at about midnight, my friend and I took it out for a test run. All of a sudden this redneck(no offense) ***hole comes racing up the road from behind me in his Dodge Ram and cuts me off. Jumps out of his truck, comes over to my window and starts ranting about racing up and down the street. So you know its loud when it wakes up the neighborhood. What else can I say, I love the thing. Sorry for the long post, but I just get hyper when I started talking about my car.

I'm happy with mine too, sound complements my new Stromung nicely. I didn't notice any power increase with the Stromung, but when I put the intake on I was really surprised. I noticed the difference in the first 50 ft of my test drive. Throttle response is much better and it pulls stronger right from idle (although 4k and up is best).

I don't know where you got your info Gerard, but you definitely don't have to buy a chip when you install a JC intake. I put mine on today and I have to agree, it definitely makes a bunch more power. Especially on top end. And it's definitely loud. Very cool indeed!

Gerard, if you have a MY99, yes, you need an AFC of some sort because your MAF will read incorrectly at high rpms, causing it to go way lean.

Just removing the snorkum thing in the right fender also makes a big difference. I ripped that puppy out earlier this week and was impressed what a difference that made. The engine revved much quicker and easier than before and sounds great at high rpms. Feels stronger all in all, according to model 170lb buttdyno. Downside is that repolacing the inner fender liners/covers will require a trip to the dealership for additional clips, etc. as removal was a pain.

Will probably need an S-AFC once my JC sport intake comes and I install it with a cold air intake adapter (have a '99 RS). Where is the best (ie cheapest) place to get an Apexi S-AFC, in you all's opinion?
