Default Sparg Plug wires and plug question

OK so I checked the archived Forums to try to get and answer to my question but there wasn't anything in there. So I'm going to post it here.

Now I have about 50K on my 2001 2.5 RS and I think it maybe time to get some new plugs wires and just get the thing checked over by mech. Scary thing is I've never had the car in for any service other the oil changes oh and a coolant flush. This downed on my while I was working on my VW for like the umpteenth time this month. Yeah I know its only the 11th and thats really sad. So I must say I'm amazed at my subie and how maintenance free it is.

Anyway I think I want to throw some new plugs and wires in but I don't know what my choices are. I know with my VW I go with Beru Platnium Plugs and 10mm wires. But its a totaly diffrent beast running 14 to 1 compression.

So since my subie is stock other then an intake I wonder if I should bother with aftermarket stuff. Or should I just use OEM plugs and wires.

I wouldn't mind getting some aftermarket wires just to pretty up the engine bay. The thing is if I go with this route I don't know what to use. All I've found so far are Magnacore wires, and someone told me a strange rumor that I would have to attatch the ends myself. I'm to lazy for that.

Is that true?
Is there any other options I should look into?
Does anyone have any opinions on what plugs I should use?
Or should I treat it like VW and get some 3 or 4 prong platniums?

Thanks for reading my late night ramblings . .

Later
~Danny~

From all the searching i've done in these forums, the consensus seems that the copper NGK's are the best plug, and the stock wires work the best. You wont see any increase in performance from these mods, as only very high voltage aftermarket ignitions could use this upgrade. I think Red wires would look very good though.

For the magnecores.. no you don't need to attach the ends yourself.

I got a set for my 2.5 MY01

Part number I believe is 45350

You can check here.

You should not worry about aftermarket stuff. Get the NGK's because you wil get NO gains using anything else. If you want to make your engine bay pretty, then get after market wieres bacause again, you will get no gains. I had to order a new wire which I ripped when doing a tune up. I thought about preformance wires but my friend said it made no difference(00'Impreza). When I got the new wire, I tested it's resistance on a meter and it was the SAME as the rest which had 60K+ miles on them! I would use that cash to get a CAI or pulley, etc. Something usefull.
