Shift at a different time? If you aren't making power at 7000rpm, don't shift there. It doesn't matter where the redline is on the tach.

350hp at 5000rpm vs 350hp at 6000rpm has nothing to do with how fast your car is past 80mph.

Technically, big turbos have lots of torque/power dropoff before 4000...so you shift later to stay in the meat of the power. Same concept.

Peak power RPM doesn't matter, but width of the powerband does...

Both will definitely compromise longevity. But I believe juanmedina is saying he could get another 70-100whp out of his current set up possibly with a more aggressive tune/raising boost and or e85. While your saying you simply want another 200whp. Just saying.... Correct me if i'm wrong but I just don't see it being possible to get another 200whp out of a set up without adding more mods or upgrading current ones.

Better read up on my setup then. I have an HTA86. It did 50-100 in 3.89 seconds on 24psi on 93. At 30psi alone on e85 alone will pick up 100-125whp. Let alone 35psi. I just haven't switched it over yet..

This seems impossible that a Rav4 is beating a nearly 300whp wrx... Lol and a Camaro SS for that matter!

Do you mean, tire/ wheel each weigh 32lbs? No way that's the combined weight haha

Yeah..haha...a RAV4.

Yea that's pretty crazy. But i do feel your time is always faster if you start from a lower speed or 0mph than if you start at say 40-50mph. Also i get 7.6-7.9 as your 50-100mph. This is also another reason why we should be doing 60-130mph.

Depending on the media player he is using to gauge his time, if it doesn't read in the 10th or 100th of a second, then to him it would say 7 seconds whether it is 7.1 or 7.9. A 60-130mph run would have the same issue as the 50-100mph run if someone used the same type of media player to view the video. Also, 60-130mph pulls are pretty sketch on public roads, and only the 450whp+ cars would be able to clock that kind of pull on a 1/4 mile...so...that is why it won't work for most people. 50-100mph is a pretty fair way to track performance vs. other setups and other vehicles on the market. Even when the time is a little slow because of shifting or whatever, like my video for example, you still get a great idea of how you stack up in terms of acceleration compared to some of the other setups and supercars on the market.

The point of my post was merely to educate because some people who don't know any better look at your old tq numbers (448wtq) and think that it is equal to your current setup's tq numbers (which I am guessing is probably pretty close to the same peak numbers)

Did you see my video? My setup on E85 is actually pretty on par with your setup on 93oct...except you have the sti 6-speed with close ratio gears vs. my 02 wrx with a 5-speed with much longer ppg gears and an open front diff and helical center and rear. Just look at juan's times, and rememer that my setup made more power than his has so far (juan, waiting for you to grow some balls and turn the wick up some...seriously...)

...not bragging or saying your setup isn't amazing or better than mine or anything...just telling you to pump the brakes a little. No one was attacking or picking at you or your setups.

Wow, that's really quick! Looks like mid 7 seconds to me, but that's inline with most of the modded stock turbo WRX/STI's!

Yeah, that's a very impressive time!

I do agree that the wheel/tire weight seems a bit off. 32 lbs for a wheel and tire seems really, really light.

On a N/A car it shouldn't matter too much. On a turbo car it's just if you're spooled or not. Starting right at 50mph will definitely be slower unless you're an expert brake booster, but there's no need/benefit to starting at 0. 60-130mph would not explicitly help this and is unreasonable for most Subaru owners to do easily.

Yeah, I think it's even well above 450WHP for most Subaru's to trap 130mph in the 1/4 and takes forever to do on the street. 60-130mph helps if there are traction issues, and also gives shifting a little less weight. Traction isn't much of an issue for Subaru's so 50-100mph works fairly well. I think that 60-130mph works better for the 500+ HP cars out there, but 50-100mph is far easier to accomplish for 300WHP cars and is still a pretty good metric.

who tune your car AirMan? Your car is really fast for 93oct even if your are running a HTA86. How much does your car weight with you in it.

The subaru crowd nowadays are a tough crowd to please. I posted a whole thread on this at a Rav4World site.
http://www.rav4world.com/forums/97-4...uestion-6.html

See post #55 for my most updated info. Oops 34lbs! Sorry!

Specs-->
Tires: General G-MAX AS-03
Cost - $98.00 *Tirerack*
Tire Size - 215/55-16
Weight - 20lbs

Cost - $219 *Tirerack*
Wheels: Enkei Racing Series RPF1 (16X7)
Offset - 43mm
Backspacing - 5.59"
Bolt pattern - (5-114)
Weight - 13.7lbs

My stock runflats and wheel were a total of 63lbs a piece. They had to go. Dropping 117lbs of rotating mass makes me giggle.

That's very impressive! Do you still have the stock wheel/tire setup? I'd love to see back to back runs between the two wheel/tire setups. I think it would show a lot of people how much dropping rotating mass can help improve acceleration.

Yeah bro! They are in my basement. This one change dropped 1/4 mile time from 14.4 average to 14.0-14.1 range. About 3/10ths or so.....

I don't want to take the thread off topic though.

Nice! That's a great stat to have. Very relevant comparison, IMO. Do you have any slips from the Rav4? Interesting that it will do the 50-100mph as quick as most stock turbo WRX's, but it's well over a second slower in the 1/4. I'm sure that's all due to the launch. I'm curious what you trap.

I can always appreciate a good sleeper ...I also would love to see a run with the stock wheels and tires reinstalled. Rotating mass makes a HUGE difference in acceleration. It would be cool to actually be able to visually see the difference.

Very interesting to see a cross-platform comparison like that. I think it's crazy that the Rav4 does 50-100mph in the 7 second range, but it only traps 99mph. Seems that some of the Subaru's in the 7 second 50-100mph range are trapping 110mph....
