I'm a 20 year old female with currently 2 points on my record. I could be a little off about the price but still extreme for not having a turbo -__- I think it also has to do with the plan my family has and the full coverage since we have so many cars. And definitely the insurance company too.

If I get insurance with another company the rest of ours will go up bc we get a discount for having a fleet. I'm sure it will go down soon since my 2 points will be erased in 2 months.

Its almost 3k a year for me alone. So not the best choice if your tight on money especially if you intend to add mods too.
I was also paying 3k a year when I got mine (Male, 20, and a clean record even with a good student discount) I switched insurance companies and now I'm paying half that, around 1.5k a year.

And I also live in the middle of nowhere and I was commuting 130 miles round trip to college 3 days a week, untill I decided to get a roommate and live in town.

I have the good student discount and I am commuting 130 miles round trip to school 3 days a week for the next semester and three more after that. Sounds like we have/had the same situation lol

Your guys insurance is ridiculous but it also all depends on what is and isn't covered.

Full coverage, $500 deductible, about $780.. and I added my wheels onto the policy which added about $30 a year.

You missed the point.. if you shift at 5300 rpm or whatever, your rpm's drop, so in the next higher gear you end up out of the ''power band''... or torque curve or whatever, you want to call it. So for max power from your engine, you need to revv higher than max power or torque in rev range.. You need to rev high enough so when you upshift, you're still getting the most out of your engine. It's even more important when you're only dealing with 175 hp to start with.

People complain 2.5 is slow.. Yeah it's not fast, but if you need the power, and know how to get it.. and have a 5-speed... it's not too bad. You just have to work a little harder. Usually 5500 is enough, but I think if you rd-line it and time your shift perfectly, you'll get even a little more out of it.
