No I don't. Just the RCE black springs on OEM struts. I google'd and found a GR on Yellow springs w 275/40/17. The Black springs drop is a tiny bit lower than the Yellows.

Honestly , the first page has the answer to your question. You need to roll your rears.

This is a great thread, doing a lot of reading and feeling slightly less stupid. I really don't know anything about wheels/tires.

In the past I always went on tirerack and found the tires I liked for the OEM wheel, but the 2013 WRX has the worst quality OEM wheel I've ever experienced. They seem to fold like origami if you look at them wrong.

I would like to get the beefiest tires possible without negative side effects on the car. Don't plan to lower it ever, rather fill up the fender gap with rubber. What's the largest I can go comfortable to protect my egg shell OEM wheels?

The very first post answers your questions.

Different experiences based on the fact that not all tires are created equal (i believe, also mentioned in the first post).

If you think people are "contradicting each other" then what do you expect to gain from ANOTHER answer? Don't be dense.

Your best bet is to stick with the OEM tire size and get a much better tire (Pilot Super Sports, RE11's, DZ101's or something along those lines).

Thanks! Opinions on Continental ExtremeContact vs General G-Max? Leaning toward the continentals because of consumer reports but zero experience with either brand.

Just FYI...Continental makes General tires. The G-Max probably is the same compound as the Extreme Contact. I know the General G-Max all-season is the same compound as the DWS tire -- a Continental factory engineer told me so. The G-Max has a stiffer sidewall and a different tread pattern, but the same material for the tread.

thanks alot for the info!
I knew I was running really close to maximum rubber stuffage in my wheel wells when I shredded my fender liner, now I know for sure!

2011 WRX ,BR coilovers, stock 17" wheels, on 255/40/17
(BTW not really impressed with the Bridgestone S-04 Pole Position tires)

Not exactly.

Its because you have too much tire on that wheel, and due to the high offset is going to rub the inside of the liner if you are too low.

What don't you like about them? I'm guessing part of your problem is 255 is too much tire for an 8" wheel.

Got question, I may have the chance to trade my 04 sti bbs wheels for some 17x9 RPF1's. I plan on going Bilstein Cup Kit with RCE black springs.

Will these fit on that suspension without a roll on a 14 WRX hatch.

RPF1
17x9 +45
Dunlop sp sport 01 235/45/17's

Still up in the air about trading my bbs sti wheels.

that would fit just fine.

and would actually be a proper sized wheel for those tires. Those are FAR too wide for a 7.5" wheel.

18x9.5 +40 with Bridgestone Potenza S-04 in 265/35/18 WILL require rolling. rubbed on my way home with the stock wheels in the back. Sits so flush though!

I run 18x9.5 +40 with Bridgestone Potenza S-04 as well but in 255/35, on stock height under hard cornering the rears rubbed a little.

Yes. Even a 235 would rub most likely.
