Out of curiousity, if the point is to make the most power out of a stock 2.0, why run conservative timing and relatively rich A/F on VP import? Seems like a waste of octane (and $23/gallon) to me.

Ok, so here's the series of events Friday night.

Drive to the track, stop 2 miles away and dump the gas in.
Tech and all that good stuff (Yea i'm gonna run 13's blah blah blah)
Line up for the first run, 12psi off the line, 1.9 60' with the tires spinning, 11.87@121mph

Second run; another tiring spinning launch (Didn't want to snap the axles) 11.86 @121.

So here's where I'm starting to get agitated, banging the 1-4 clutchless with my good ole PPG 1-4 Dogset and only 11.86. I couldn't figure it out, I mean i know the 60' sucked but that was by choice. (My average 60' in my own car is between 1.60 and 1.65) So I hook the utec up and go for another run to check the boost, AH HA! only 28psi.... Turned the boost up to 32psi and let it rip. What a time to get the run, I look to my left and there is a 35R EVO. Tree drops, I'm off, clutchless 1-2 off the rev limit, still next to him, clutchless 2-3 off the rev limit and then it just right back to the rev limit. At this point i'm yelling at the car.... Stupid clutch. The twin plate had been sitting in Jamie's tool box for months. I guess it wasn't in such good shape anymore.

So the moral of the story is, I trapped 121 on low boost not launching the car, so with axles and a good clutch.... Low 11's maybe a high 10.

Thoughts???

Get 'er done!

def

PS- the axles will hold 1.7-1.6 launches no problem... just beware of wheel hop... from spinning too much.
make sure you insure equal tire pressures left to right and line up square to where the rubber is being laid.

Awesome numbers on thestock 205, makes me kinda reconsider rebuilding mine and trying to run more power on the stock motor. I will definately be coming to turbo xs for a tune

Of all the things I have broke, an axle has never been one of them... although I do have a full spare set... tons of 11 sec passes and 1.6/1.7 sixty foot times, 6 years and HUNDREDS of passes total, and I am still on the stock axles.

But, then again, that was on a 2 liter... the 2.5's torque may put them over the edge.

I break more axles then anything else. My car is a little different with regards to weight distribution, etc., but seriously I've lost count of how many front axles I've toasted. In fact, I have a bad one under the car as we speak that needs to be replaced.

You would think he is dropping the clutch too fast, and shocking the drive train too much to break the axles.

Nice high 11's on a bad clutch and no launching. Can't wait to see what it will do with the new clutch and launching!

^ I am not really sure what you just said, but more power to you (I think). Love the car though, it has talked me into going rotated.

Awesome numbers. Very interested in trying to mimic them actually. I wish I would have known this was even possible on a stock 205 tho before I dropped a ton of money into building it.

Question tho... is it possible to produce this sort of power with a stock location turbo? I don't want to go rotated so that kinda dismisses the GT series turbo's from what I have seen. Red is too big. What turbo characteristics are most like the 30r .63 that will fit under the hood and bolt up? Clipped 8cm Green maybe?

Frank,
I agree...I want to here some more support for using such an expensive fuel as I will be getting my car tuned on the stuff by the end of the month.

Check into Blouch's Dominator series.
They have 3 different versions, one about the size of a green, and on up.

I agree with akira, the Dom III is basically a stock location 30r, another one to look into would be the Element GT 52. These are both fairly similar turbos, and if looking for big power, should be had with the 8cm hot side and an EWG setup for boost control. Would you get numbers like this with either of these turbos? Highly unlikely. The hotside isn't big enough for our engines with that big of a turbo. Clark (AZ SCOOBIE) has said it over and over. Doesn't make it gospel necessarily, but he's not the only one saying it. My .02

p.s. Alittle better spool and less power could be had with something like the Dom 2.5r

edit - Check here for the most impressive results i've seen with the stock location 30R's. Post #55

GT52 is what I have and on a 2.5L with 110 and methanol it made 507/510. The GT52 is a 7cm hot side FYI.

an 8cm hot side with an EWG is a little bit overkill don't you think?

^^Does your 7cm have any creeping issues? what numbers did you get on pump gas?
