for sure. ive always been really sketchy about fiberglass body pieces. I think if i ever went to a custom bumper it would have to be urethane of some sort

Ooh baby. Everyone save those pics of me in the dirt. That is the dirtiest that car will ever be and the last time it ever sees anything other than asphalt.

Great job covering the event all - and nice shots Phil!
I've got the pics downloaded - will start editing them this evening. Matt - it was hella fun watching your car out there, even if it was brief. Here's a preview: Last edited by Praet0rian; 09-16-2008 at 01:11 AM. |

You may not have been racing, but obviously SOMEBODY was driving well beyond their limits, or was just flat out not paying attention to the road. I can tell you the number of times I've driven off a cliff just because I didn't know the road. Zero. It's a two lane road, with switchbacks. It's not like he missed a turn in downtown and wound up on the wrong block, he missed a turn on a road with only one way to go.
While the rest of the group may have been going the speed limit and making Johnny Law happy, one person ****ed up royally and it makes the entire group look like a bunch of riceboy hooligans out causing chaos. I cannot believe someone from the group went 270 feet off a cliff and the general consensus here is "oh, wow. Now where are the pics of me doing doughnuts in the grass?". Last time I got grumpy at a group of people on a Mt Baker cruise it was because the retards at the front of the group were doing 90+ on video and self proclaimed jaunts up to 130mph on the way down, but everyone was driving well within their limits and nobody else was in danger - not even the oncoming traffic in the video. Nevermind the bikers going up through the hairpins who were obviously spooked by people cutting the corners and driving too fast. I'm all for a little spirited driving, but not when it involves people going off cliffs, close calls with other motorists, or more than doubling the speed limit on a 2 lane mountain road with a high probability of wildlife and gravel on the pavement. Last Thursday a motorcyclist died on Chuckanut. I haven't read any updates lately, but last I heard he hit a rock wall and was left in the middle of the road and his bike went off the cliff somewhere around 150-200' down. Did he swerve to avoid something? Was he just going too fast? I don't know. Apparently he was just going to work in the morning, and he didn't make it. One of our NWICers worked with the guy. It could happen to any one of us, and I would HATE to have it happen to someone outside of the group because one of us was cutting corners and caused a wreck. The last time I got on the group's case about this, I caught a lot of flak. I may catch it again, but honestly I don't care. I drive these roads. My friends drive these roads. I don't want increased police coverage on them. I don't want decreased speed limits on them. And ultimately I don't want the local law enforcement agencies to crunch the numbers and realize that it's a bunch of those darned Subaru owners causing problems. None of us need that grief. Quote:

If u cross the center line you FAIL. Never understood why someone would seek out a curvy road and then try to make it less curvy by cutting the corners. Retarded.
And obviously anything that attracts the attention of the fuzz is a FAIL as well. |
