Default 2.5rs rear diff into a BE legacy

Hey'all

I've always meant to ask this, but will a 2.5RS LSD rear diff be interchangeable with a BE/BH legacy rear diff? What I mean, completely drop-in, no axles to be changed out, etc...

BE/BH GT's are 4.11 Ratio
2.5RS are 4.11 Ratio

Both are R160's, same case, same same same.

Yup, they'll fit.

Some R160s have axle stubs that stick in the diff, and some have stubs that stick out. I know some LSDs are different that non-lsds, but not if that was a year to year thing.

so wait, which ratio does my L use then? 3.9 or 4.11?

I looked at my service manual and it said any 2.5l that's not an Outback has a 3.7

I'm confused.

And it looks like BE's use the kind of diff that has the stubs sticking into the diff, not the other way around.

If you have a Legacy L, take a look at this tranny chart and compare your tranny numbers against the ones in the chart.

http://spda-online.ca/modules/tinyco...ite/tc_28.html

US Legacy L MY03-04 TY754VCDAA 1.000 4.111 Viscous (4kgf) Open

But make sure your numbers match up with the one above, you maybe in luck.

ok, i've been talking with someone about the LSD rear diffs...apparently they use a different length axle on the passenger side vs. the driver...is this the same as on non-lsd rear ends?

Same axles on both sides, they are interchangeable. I've broken enough to know.. LOL
This applies to the stock LSD diff that comes from either the 2.5RS or the 2000 Legacy GT. Both are the same R160's.

The LSD's that come from the JDM model STI's, some of them require different "left and rear" axles, yes.
