Default One Less GC on the Road

Id always hoped i wouldn't have to write one of these posts.

Unfortunately last week my 2000 Impreza 2.5RS was parked out infront of my house, and at 7:15am was the victim of a hit and run.
The car alarm went off and woke me up, by the time I got out there to look at the car there was no one around.
Someone hit my car going fast enough to break off an expo marker sized piece of the rim, bend the axle, damage the rear suspension, as well damage several body panels.

ICBC towed it, and today I got the phone call that is has been written off and deemed a total loss with damaged exceeding $5700. They have not valuated the car yet, and it will likely be 5 days before they phone with an offer.
And while i didnt have a ton of mods, i had recently invested alot in preventative maintenance, some upgrades and just really loved the car.
And i know i wont get anywhere near what the car was worth to Me.

Its very sad to see the car go.

Here are some pictures pre/post, a Recap of my fun with it:

dammit... argue with them and get it fixed! I have lateral links, hubs, axles, door, and rear bumper you can have to help get the car back on the road... unlikely icbc will go for it but the car is worth more than 5700 bucks...

DAMN! they even took a chunk of the wheel off.

Make sure any recent stuff (as Amazing Asian said) is all in order, as that can add up to value (recently replaced tires/maintenance etc).

ICBC will more than likely black book your car at $1500 to $2500. This happened to me a year ago. They valued my (pristine) 1999 2.5 Rs at $1800. The adjuster (who happened to own a Nissan 240) told me "because there has been no matching cars bought or sold on craigslist in the last calendar year it is policy to revert to black book pricing, my off the record advice is to hire a private estimator who does the price setting for custom builds and u build bikes to inspect and write a report on your car. His report does not get questioned and is then used for estimating value of the vehicle"
The fellow cost me $400 to do the report and it was done in a week. He took ALL new and replaced parts into consideration as well as custom work. Long story short, my insurance buy out went from $1800 to $8500 plus taxs, no questions, paid in 24 hrs of forwarding the report to insurance adjuster.
The $400 bucks is worth it. Don't let yourself get screwed over.

why does it matter that it was a Rota? That's someone's car man. I hate rotas as much as the next "purist", but I'm not going to even care if someone's [obviously pristine] car is damaged to that extent.

I'd neg rep the **** out of your "joke" if we had that here.

Damage doesn't even look that bad. I would consider the option of getting them to pay the max repair amount and keep the car, especially you know everything else is "done" and ready for a couple years.

Unlike in some cases there is frame damage, I would rather take the loss.

True on all that. The community has enough parts to help you iut. Icbc only has to hit 70 or 80% to write off the car.

Only cost is how bad the quarter is and wether inside there is damage and or mount points are torn.

Surprised that they wrote that car off, unless it is rusty. Aside from quarter dmg body work the rest is an easy fix.

It will be on the road again as icbc will sell it at auction.

the black book value of these cars is super low. It's a 15 year old compact sedan... Like ToxicWRX said... 1500-2500 is what the black book value is. Not being able to find any comparable cars on craigslist I would think make them realize that they're rare but apparently it just makes them cheap.

So because I know people are interested.

Icbc doesn't even wanna discuss car buy back.
Won't gimme numbers on what the write off valuation cutoff was

But first offer was 4875 minus 750 deductible equals a check for 4125$

Also very recent 2600$ of maintenance (2000km ago), and brand new battery don't count at all because, and I quote...

"You couldnt sell the car without a head gasket or a battery, so it doesn't make your car worth any more"
