Default Best purchase in Japan?

I have a friend in Japan for a week. Is it worth having him buy me any parts? They would have to be small.

Does he already have a seller there to get stuff? Can't quite imagine him roaming the streets of Tokyo yelling, "Ay gimme some maddddtyte JDM's4myhomiezzzz.................... Merica'!"

And "worth it" is a matter of perspective. Currently I have a friend stationed at Kadena Air Base, and I've asked him to look into buying Volk rims straight from there. For me, that's "worth it".

You don't need to find a "seller". Go to Autobacs or any of the rediculous shops they have there with stuff a million times cheaper than in America.

If you had to pick 1 or 2 items, what's something good that's really hard and/or expensive to buy in the U.S.? (again, smaller part)

+10000000000

I'd have a HUGE grocery list. That Georgia coffee was definitely a getter plus Real Gold... Screw Monster or Red Bull. I was drinking Real Gold back in '82 the first time I lived over there.

When I was there in '08, I got an accessory "book" from the mini showroom they had at their headquarters. TONS of things that we don't get here.

Go to a book store and get some HyperRev magazines...And i remember getting Fanta with a crazy amount of caffine in them instead of the caffine free versions here in the states.

Ha only in Japan, can you get a hot can of Coffee out of a machine or from the heating rack in an am-pm. And it tastes good.

I would get a case of that gum syrup stuff they put in iced coffee.

Autobacs is not cheap. Defi gauges there are as batshiz expensive as they are here, especially once you factor in the yen to dollar rate (terrible). It's sweet to walk around in and I bought a lot of little stuff like lugnuts or cleaning products there.

UpGarage is where it's at. Used parts guaranteed to be in good shape and they can pull any item from one UG to another for you. They have a website that catalogs all the parts, it's nice once you learn what to click on.

Like someone above said, get Volks if you're serious. You're not getting a set for $1k or some ridiculousness, but you'll save hundreds sourcing them there. Will that offset the price of shipping? Might not... all the military guys have them moved for free when they PCS back to the states.
