I know what you're saying. I don't think I take my foot all the way off the gas, therefor the throttle plate doesn't close. It's all one quick adrenalin filled moment.
LOL@the busted tranny.

That's kinda/pretty much like FFS'ing then. It would be interesting to see a log that includes rpm, boost and throttle position.

more like a manual version of a throttle kick for antilag since he isn't FULL on the throttle, but just keeping it open slightly...not exactly the same as antilag, but kind of.
old school muscle guys would call this power shifting...just fyi |

All I hear is the sound of a crunching 2nd or 3rd gear synchro with any real hard speed shifting

yeah right...as long as you shift it perfectly every time. i can almost promise that you eventually will mess something up trying to clutchless shift a synchro box if you don't know what you are doing.

I agree though ^ couldn't see somebody getting to many clutch less shifts at high boost out of one of our trans' before problems occur!

yes, ffs is definitely available for opensource. if you look around on romraider you should be able to find it, or you can get it by purchasing the tinywrex patch.

from what i could tell it looked like 5ish seconds (really hard to tell at that angle and being on my computer at work)...there are definitely quite a few ways you can improve that by probably a full second or more though. you probably KILLED your time by starting right at 50mph. if you started at a lower mph and brake boosted or went down another gear you could probably gain a good chunk just with that. then the other thing you could do is try and get faster shifts in there or flat foot shifts. that would probably take you down another pretty good chunk.

kind of...some people speculate that maybe subaru went with an improved material in the 08+ 5spds, but i have seen or read ZERO proof of this...so as far as i'm concerned, this is just speculation or people trying to convince themselves their car is superior to the previous models.
basically, as far as actual facts are concerned, the 2008+ 5spds internally are very similar to the 04-05 5spds because they went back to the 3.90 final drive instead of the 3.70 final drive that they had in 06-07. this helps take a small amount of stress off the gears by giving them slightly more mechanical advantage. |

yeah...then again, i know quite a few 04/05's running 350+whp and a few 06/07's running 450+whp so...this is kind of like the "glass 02-03 tranny when will it break" topic though. its impossible to tell when and what power level a transmission will break. even the unbreakable 6sp and the ppg 5sp (dog and synchro) break...sometimes even well below the power they are rated to and with normal driving...just the unfortunate truth about machines.
