Is it just me or do the standard factory 17'' rims seem a little small on that beast of a body? what do you guys think, worth the extra money to go for 18" rims and tires?

That's ENTIRELY personal preference lol Do whatever you think looks best and let whatever you are going to use the car for and your budget be your basis for the decision

But since im sure that won't suffice If I could afford a raptor I certainly would have one of those as well. They are nearly double the price though. And I dont think they sell a worthy truck that gets 25 mpg for a price anywhere near 25k. My brother has a v6 2wd f150 and it doesnt even get over 20-21. I love subarus. They are very capable and fun cars, the new ones just need a little love to get back to their functional roots. Sent from my SCH-I545 using NASIOC mobile app |

^ I took a look at those ducts. I need some braking cooling for track days. Sebring is tough on brakes, especially during summer. Sorry to hear they don't fit well, but I'm glad I didn't buy them. I don't have the patience to deal with a $300 product that doesn't fit.

I'm definitely doing the Roo-Ducts. It's worth the investment once you tear up a few feet of brake ducting.

Before this retarded fad came along... ... most of us purchased a WRX/STI to drive in conditions like this... So I have a better question: Why do so many people on this forum buy AWD Subarus and turn them into something that is only capable of driving on paved dry roads with absolutely no bumps or hard corners? That's the real mystery. |

I had ZERO intention of buying my car to drive it offroad. Just because it's AWD doesn't mean that it had to be abused. I have a jeep and a durango, I'll gladly take those anywhere and they'll get me there. The GR chassis has almost no suspension travel in the rear, you're asking for issues unless you lift it. The vast majority of Subarus will never ever see conditions like that, saying that we all bought these cars to thrash them off road is just ignorant. There were 4 main points buying the car 1. Relatively fast and manual 2. IIHS top safety pick 3. Under 30k 4. 4 doors and not FWD No where was I looking at "how can I offroad this thing!?!?" No one looked negatively at anyone who bought it to drive it in in-climate weather. I drove my bagged GR through as much snow as we had here, thunderstorms, torrential rain, etc. Never thought twice and it never failed me once. Thinking you bought an out of the box rally car is a negligent way to own a vehicle and a quick way to end up destroying your car. Lowering cars never has been and never will be a fad. |

Prior to the flood of newer buyers (like yourself) coming in and "stancing" these cars, many of us started buying them because they were a perfect fit for those of us who wanted performance but also needed a car that would work great in varying terrain/conditions without bottoming out all over the place. Don't get me wrong, I've seen pictures of your car. It's very clean and if you want to turn it into a paved road only vehicle that might see some snow on occasion, go right ahead. But it's astonishing to me that we've reached the point where people get legitimately confused when some of us take our cars on dirt or heavy snow. |

And maybe a cage too, then you can really get it sideways without being crushed alive haha. That's always my fear beyond the clearance/travel issue that is an absolute fix if your gona get hardcore about it. I wouldn't want to get aggressive on dirt roads like that without some proper protection. I'll settle with snowed in parking lots for now haha!

it was a legit question. yes it does confuse me, ive had off road vehicles (trucks and suv) with lift kits and bigger tires. Ive been to Rausch Creek offroad park and had a blast, but for trail riding with very uneven terrain and choosing a WRX/STI to do so doesnt make sense to me and never will. To think you can go to Subaru and by a purpose built offroad capable vehicle is dumb, itll trash a very nice new vehicle.
All i said was dont you think a truck or suv thats oriented toward off roading would be more fun. you'd have a lot more ground clearance and to me would be more fun that hitting a trail in a 4 door sedan. Im talking about 4x4 TRAILS, not rally race courses. Oh and the new Rams and Ecoboost F-150s get better MPG's than my STI. Regardless everyone has theyre own opinion. This is a picture thread so any further replies from me will be with pics. pics of my pavement only STI |
