Default testes1010's '05 LGT 5MT mod log(added VF52@19psi)

For those of you who know me, I sold my beloved WRX back in October & picked up a bone stock 2005 Legacy GT 5MT sedan w/ just under 60k miles on it.

I started a thread a few places documenting the modifications, logs, graphs, etc of my modding and tuning, people seemed to enjoy it. Figured I'd post it up here as well.

Just a few FYIs. I only run (non-E10) 93 octane, AFRs are in the 11.2-11.4 neighborhood via LM-1 on all but the 100% stock graph. Other than the 100% stock graph, all graphs are peaking at just under 17psi. My STG1 map is posted over on Romraider, although I have not had any feedback from anyone else after running it. I am very near sea level. I do all my own tuning via ECUFlash & Romraider.

100% OEM Mapping, 100% bone stock 2005 Legacy GT w/ just under 60k miles.

Testes1010 STG1 map(tuning + Hallman PRO MBC, no other mods)

nice documentation.

i especially like the cbe vs cbe plots.....really shows people that the total system effects the backpressure and just getting an elephant d*kic downpipe doesnt give you all the gains.

also, those crucial coatings look good and an excellent wrap job on the other pieces.

you already know what turbo im gonna suggest

49 lb/min+

the links to the log arent working for me......what were the idc's on the final setup?

Thanks.

If I was going to really upgrade I'd definitely do a SZ49, Frank50 or the sorts.

I never even got a chance to really do any major logging after the Up/DP/etc install other than just seeing the gains w/ boltons. I believe during just the STG1 & CBE it was in the lower-to-mid 70% IIRC.

The last link was broke, I fixed it.

I actually went one step further with the wrapping, I can only wait for the nasiocwh0res to scream ghetto, ghetto, ghetto......true, but its function over form.

How did you wrap the aluminum pans around the pipes to make it look good? Seriously.

Nice thread, love the graphs and descriptions of mods and gains.

Also love the wrap job. I actually did an upipe a few years back with many layers of folded aluminum foil, went that route after regular heat wrap fell apart. I put that foil on with the uppipe about 2 years back, and you know, I went rotated a month or so ago, and when I pulled the turbo and upipe off, the foil was still in excellent shape, dirty yes, but still sound as when I did it. By the way, you say your looking for a turbo, the one I removed from my car was a Blouch dom 2.5r with about 2000 miles on it. PM me if you might be interested!

cut the corners & flatten them out first.

That was my inspiration, many of the factory manifolds(non-subaru) come with crinkled alum heat shields, a bit nicer looking than mine but mine only cost <$10 including the ss wormclamp I picked up to secure the pans.

That's a pretty cool DIY heat shield.
Since you had already wrapped the pieces you could also use Taylor Reflective Heat Tape. It goes for around $30 for 20ft.
It withstands 1100F continuous radiant heat and 500F direct contact.
Adhesive backed, easy to cut and easy to wrap. I used it on an intake tube years ago and it was still on after I sold the car.
Just a suggestion.

I done something similar on my wrx to protect the MAF from radiant heat w/ DEI or Thermotec adhesive backed thermal barrier.

I would get rid of the plastic tie wraps though, and use some SS CV-Joint boot bands instead. It'll help keep things together without melting, otherwise a great use of aluminumm baking pans.. Two thumbs up for creativity.

those were only temporary, I made it to rural king to pickup some ss worm clamps to secure the foil before I installed them. Good eye, .

^ I'll see what I can wring out of the stock fuel system w/ a slight increase in fuel pressure, by then, it'll be time for tax return.....

Sweet, I'll be very interested to see what increases you get from it.

A walbro fuel pump might be a good cheap addition at this time as well. It will give you some better flow and some headroom.
