Thinking about moving to Utah
Right now Im located in Orange county, California. I am currently in school but would like to get out of this place after the semester. Can anyone let me know what its like in Utah? how are the car laws because they are rediculous here!!!! Cant mod ANYTHING!! Also what are the colleges like out there? and the rent for a house? Is it pretty easy to get a job? And what is there to do for fun?? Im getting into real estate so would this be a good job in Utah??

There are many different developments and lots of undeveloped land here, so real estate is probably a good occupation here.
As for car laws, it's pretty much if your car passes emissions, which aren't any where near as rediculous as California, you're good. There are some problems with exhaust mods in down town Salt Lake, but they are few and far between. All in all it's a cool place to be if you don't mind the religions being in your face wherever you turn. Plenty of things to do, lots of local canyons and scenic drives. I like it here. |

Yeah Utah is a pretty good place to live. Lots of hot women, amazing scenery (most national parks in one state). Utah University is on par with any other large university good classes, good parties. Cost of living is pretty low, you can find a good place to live for less than $400 a month and roommates bring it down more. I've never had a problem with any mods on my car, and it's rather extreme at the moment. Two major downers though, rather strict liquor laws, and Salt Lake City is not famous for seperation of Church and State, I'd suggest visiting for a while before you make a plunge, but even if you do, I doubt you'll be very dissapointed.

Also, what An1bus said about real estate, many of the smaller cities outside of SLC are growing at a rate greater than 500% a year, the market is beyond booming.

Salt Lake City itself is rather liberal, the mayor organized a massive protest against Bush visiting, which was rather nice. Everywhere else is very religious though. Nice thing is, if you don't mind people constantly asking if you want to come to church, the people here are amazingly nice.

^ That's not entirely correct. If you buy beer in a grocery store the alcohol content is 3.2% but if you go to a liquor store (which, by the way, are run by the state government) you can get high point beer, but you pay more for it of course. Also, we have some awesome microbreweries here that have high point beer.
As for hard liquor, you have to purchase that from the liquor store and it is the same (alcohol speaking) as you'd buy in cali, except a little more expensive, but not altogether that much ... unless you go to Trader Joe's. Do I sound like a drunk or what? |

cost of living in pretty much any part of Utah will be *WAY* less than what it is in Orange County. lower average incomes here though too.
school is cheap here. ~$1500-1800 semester in tuition and fees at the U of U for residents. |

I've got a buddy who is in real estate investing. He's been doing it here for about 5 years (switched over from drug sales), and loves it. He's making enough that he'll probably retire in 2-3 years.
Oh yeah, and he's 20 now. Real Estate in Utah is huge!!! David |

Thanks for all the input guys. I am really thinking about moving now. Im just sooooo sick of all the wanna-be dirt bike riders and stuck up snobby girls here. and ontop of that I have to limit myself on where I drive my car. Maybe when I get out there Ill post up another thread so I can meet some new friends. Thanks again and if there is anymore input on this thread let me know. Thanks.

The cost of living here in Ut. is super cheap but the pay is as well.. Real Estate is starting to go off cuse of all the people moveing here from Cali.. and they are paying like almost doubble the value of property here cuse its still cheaper than what they had when they left. Things we have in common is people still block the left hand lane. Mean people still suck and politics. Things that are better here is .. 10 mins from Salt lake city and you can be Alone..Open freeways, Lakes, Sport Activities, Snowboarding or Skiing, Great Camping.. and like Super-ru said Most National Parks in one state.

Aye you can do the one night stand here np.. the best are the Bishop's daughters.. aka the Preacher's kids.. ect.. all the same. There are lots of bars in Utah. You can still go on Cyote dates . You go to be with a 10 and wake up chewing off your arm. |

I don't think the girls are stuck up here. I have spit game on chicks in vegas, grand junction and st. george.
And while alot of them here are stuck up as long as you don't go for the Von Dutch chicks driving daddies beamer. You will be fine. Freaky Jack Moron girls are where it is at. They are chill to talk to and as soon as you hit there switch it is like hitting the NAWWWZZZZZZ!!! BTW grand junction chicks are the best out of all of them. Ben |
