obviously what ever helmet you used the other day passed minimaul so no worries for you.
But wearing a used helmet is like buying as stated, used tightie whities, a used STi or a used condom... DON'T! |

Um, people try on clothes and shoes and likely helmets at stores, employees don't burn them afterwards.
Ben used my helmet once, and didn't puke or catch cooties, as far as I know. Not any new cooties, at least. Just giving an alternative. And I'm pretty picky about smelly people type stuff. If it smelled like anything except new helmet, I would have been less than happy. At Walmart a month ago, I used one of the baskets to shop, and afterwards I got in my car. My hands had old man stink on them from the previous user of the basket. Even after washing my hands numerous times, it didn't come off. I hate old man stink. |

Helmets Schmelments
Alaska Leather at Arctic and Benson, with a mention of the SCCA/Solo competition will get you a 10% discount. Minimaul...there was no 1996 Snell Foundation sticker--were you just "guessing it was 1996"?
The latest is 2005, and I encourage all purchasing new helmets to get this vintage of Snell2005 in either the M2005 or SA2005, both of which will work. Now, about that "used" thread running in here...gar? Who wants to wear someone elses helmet gar? Or tighty whitey gar? Or...? Good thing SCCA only checks underwear (REALLY) in the Club Racing program, LOL! |

There is a sticker on it. That's why I bought it. becuase i thought snell 1995 or newer would work. either way, looks like i wasted a tank of gas-- i mean 40 bucks. |

I have a question...when I get up there next year, me and the wife are planning on running STX. My car fits into STX specs per the SCCA rule book, however there is one grey area that I have a Q about.
I have an STi hoodscoop The book says that the addition of non-functional scoops are allowed...and further goes on to say that the intent of the body kit rule is to accomodate commonly available appearance kits. Obviously the STi scoop feeds an intercooler, but in your interpritation, does it violate the STX limitations concidering that there would be no differance to the performance of the car by adding a larger scoop, only to the apperance of it? |

I don't see how a change of hoodscoops would effect your standing... because you need one either way right? So it should not matter if you have a large one or a smaller one. That would be like throwing others into another class because they made the opening for air flow to the rad bigger then stock.

While I'd agree with you Mav on that aspect, it woudl also be much like Jake and his BOV. He has one, it needs one, whats the diff if it is a stock or an HKS? However the scoop only increases air to the intercooler. Wonder if things like icing down the IC or IC misters bump you classes? if not then I'd say the scoop wouldnt either.

You think you and the ol' lady would sponsor me? I saw some pics of the LGT on alaskascca.com Just think for a low low price of $595 you can have the same decal on this: ...and I know about not being DS with the wing\scoop\wheels, that one was my bad Last edited by crewin323; 07-24-2006 at 03:02 PM. |

With the downtime during the middle of the summer, I forgot about this thread.
So, now that this year's season has ended, what's everyone thinking? Future mods? Impressions of the season? Next year, I'll only have some more suspension mods, most likely. I plan to stay in STS. So, swaybars and endlinks, and maybe camber plates. And a rear strut bar. I thought this season went well, and I sure hope someone decides to pave the gravel areas out at the raceway. |

Hmm. mods. I'm going to get an cat-back exhaust-thingy for my car in the next few weeks. my main auto-X specific mod is going to be tires. i want suspension too, but, first is tires. i wanna drop my car an inch or so, and i'm going to tint it too. so, yeah. |
