Spark plug gap on PFR7G. wrong or not?
I bught new plugs, PFR7G, 1 step colder than stock. i measured the gap and it says (.040) or (1.02mm). from what i hered is that the gap is best set at (.028-.030) is that true? do i make the gap to that size or do i have the wrong plugs? i'm using NGK PLATINUM PFR7G-11.
I went with 1 step colder cause i plan on doing some light mods and a guy i know says that, one cooler is the way to go. so i belived him. please help!!! the subaru dealer ship in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada cant tell me *****. they just sell the parts.no knowledge.I'm not doingthing untill i find out forsure. thanx very much.

Look in your owners manual or go to www.ngksparkplugs.com and see what plugs are recomended for your vehicle and the correct gap.

...it is very simple....really.....the '-11' plug is for NA cars.....thus the larger pre-gap(1.1mm)
...the NON '-11' plug is pre-gapped at 0.7-0.8mm which is for turbo'd apps... |

early on, stage 4 kits that required step colder plugs (7s) documented the
-11 plugs to be used, it was carried over from their RS turbo reccomendations. The PFR7G-11 plugs should not hurt terribly unless high boost where the spark would blow out.. I've successfully run them in my old stage4+ setup without problems before the correct part was known. Of course, the proper part number would be optimal. |

....the '-11' plugs are the WRONG plug for a turbo Subaru application. Period.

BTW I believe the NGK plugs generally works better on the subaru and as it is been the OEM plug , Well they work better that the Denso 22 Plugs .

I was refering to to statement that someone said that the PFR7G are not the correct plugs for turbo car , which is wrong , as the Japanese uses the plugs on their STI's . They are the wrong plugs for the American Spec STI ,I think the plug for the American spec is the NGK LFR 7 .
