Hey guys, found out my vf48 on my 08 sti is on its way out and have decided on purchasing the Td06sl2 20g with the 8cm hotside. Question is will I need to upgrade my coolant line and oil feed line to the turbo or will it mate up, or does kinagawa supply new lines?
Want to get everything before the purchase of the turbo so I won't have any downtime. Last edited by Boostedbob; 02-03-2013 at 02:06 PM. |

Kinugawa turbos include all lines and necessary hardware for installation (even the gaskets). They also come with a SS oil feed line with the correct restrictor size for the Kamak CHRA.
The WHP numbers posted above are very conservative. A TD05SH-16G can make 350 AWP on 93 octane with a catless turboback. I would think it would be very easy to crack into the 400 AWHP range with a TD06SL2-20G on 93 octane. It is very similar to the older FP Green. Last edited by gabedude; 02-04-2013 at 03:36 AM. |

I was just looking at the hardware yesterday and the vacuum lines and fittings look better than OEM, the lines have a dual coating to resist oil and seem to be made of silicon, the hose compression fittings are the same as OEM, attention to detail on this turbos is just ridiculous, pisses me off how ignorant people are calling these turbos EBay just because they are $500+ less than a Blouch.

It's good to know that the parts kinagawa supplied with there turbo look to be better then oem. Excited to see what the car will do with E85. Certainly made the vf48 come to life. |

Ok after reading and reading and searching this post im gonna pull the trigger and buy Kinugawa probaly just an 18G and get a STi TMIC. I have a 2007 WRX running AP stage 2 with Perrin Tune. Im in GA sand getting to a reasonable tuner is like pulling teeth so i may go with an E-TUNE. Till i can get time of from the army to get a protune. I think also i will purchase a 3port EBCS but of course will not install till tune time. Im figuring i cant just run a a COBB 18G MAP. So can someone point me in a direction maybe a link.

Just get a Phaton etune, that's what I am doing when I finish the install on the 07 FXT, tired of the Stage 2 Cobb OTS Map (4 years now).

sorry for the poor photo quality. I'm certainly happy with the 349HP/349Trq figures, I do wish that it would have spooled a bit faster. What are your IDCs? I have 750cc and suspect will not be sufficient.

power is great! top end power is scary, still I wish the spool was a bit better Quote:
Like I said, overall, very happy with the car. I still wonder if I should have gone with an 18G variant vs. a 20G variant. I really miss the peppiness of the VF39, but the top end power is awesome on my SL2-20G |

you are correct. sort of a build on a budget and I didn't really see the need for an aftermarket BCS

A 3 port will get you better spool and better control for around $100 but you would have to retune for it again. I maxed out my id1000 and 300lph pump on the same turbo on e85 around 23psi so i would think 750cc would be cutting it close on pump gas. I will be hardwiring the pump to lower them a bit with the dw hard wire kit which is something you could do to stretch out the 7500cc a bit.

Yeah sounds like you're missing a couple parts that would really make a significant difference. Grab an EBCS and 3" catback, you should see a good bit of pickup on spool/boost control up top. I really want to know what this turbo does as I'm strongly considering picking one up to replace my og fp green.
