WGMG is when people call wheels "rims".
Yes there are a few setups that do have hub and rim 2 piece wheel assemblies, but they aren't very common and are mostly on heavy equipment or expensive race wheels. WGMG is when people call gun magazines "clips". M1A1 uses a clip, most other guns, nope. |

While working at the range Im kind of an ass. If they ask how many clips they need I tend to ignore them until they say magazine. |

The rims thing bothers me too, I wish I could just get over it though since everyone says it.

its just like when people say "roll your windows down" most cars nowadays have power windows, your not doing the roll handle motion anymore.

but the term "roll your widows down" was from the motion you made when you spun the crank for the window to move. |

I usually say open up the window.
Probably makes no sense to most of you, but it makes sense in Canadian French which is my first language. I didn't learn English till around the age of 6. I remember going to Kindergarten from "Head Start" wondering WTF all these new kids are saying! The song "Frere Jacque", I never did understand the english part of it till years later. |

You guys realize its the culture you grew up that defines rims vs wheels?
Where I grew up, we called them rims. and a tire was a tire. Also... I laugh at this but the term oil, lube and filter is long gone. There is nothing to lube. But I still get the older generation coming in asking how long the wait time is for a lube job. Takes all I can not to laugh. |

Probably, 1920 and some 1930s cars used hubs and rims. Not a ton of those cars or people left anymore though.
LOF (lube, oil, filter) is what we used when I was a grease monkey at Sears about 10 years ago and later on when I worked for a heavy equipment dealer. Newer cars don't have too many grease points but people still drive stuff from the 70s-90s pretty often. On heavy equipment, most of the time I used the big air powered grease machine that held like 30 gallons worth of grease cause they have dozens of fittings. Quote:

actually if you look at the window mech. itself they are not actuators rather they are regulators and both power and non powered are called this so the term roll your windows down can be related to the two. It is simply the description of the actual force being applied, not the effects of said force. In the UK, they wind them down.
If you look up the definition of roll, you will see it involves a movement on an axis: http://oxforddictionaries.com/definition/roll?q=roll As for crank, the same source states that the movement involved is made in order to start an engine. Therefore, it is more logical that roll a window up/down will be used. an example vs Last edited by Shaggie 907; 06-04-2013 at 01:41 PM. |

WGMG is the stupid I phone alarm I bought a while back. Spent $50 on this thing and it rings when it feels like it. The $4.99 BX special it replaced worked just fine for almost 10 years. This thing should work at least 10x better right?!
I set it last night for 8:30. I got up at around 8, did the usually ****, shower, shave and it never rang. Went out to the garage to do some paperwork and I heard a faint ringing. Yup.. alarm clock in my room, ringing at 9:40. WTH?! It's done this several times, or it will never even ring. Good thing most of the time I don't "need" to wake up, just want to. |

Person pulls out right in front of me, drives slow, all over the road, nearly drives into the the curb on the round about, I try to get around them at the next light, they cut me off... I pull up along side... Young girl texting.
I motion for her to get off the phone, she gives me the bird.... I call her into the police. Wish that stuff didn't bother me... Crappy mood now. |

Couple weeks ago young girl in a Prius was going down the 2 lane section of the Parks in Wasilla. I was in my dump truck in the slow lane and she veered out of the fast lane and pretty much went under my truck, right in front of my drive tires. I swerved as much as I could and got on the brakes. I'm not sure how I didn't run her over! I had 25,000lbs of gravel so it's not like it's gonna stop on a time.
I stopped to pull the seat out of my butt and she came running over screaming at me that I almost killed her, she was calling the cops, lalala lalalalalaa. Cops showed up. Come to find out she was texting. They gave her a ticket, which I didn't think was enough. Usually the only time I'll even talk on the phone is if I'm outside of town. After about Willow you see maybe 2 cars an hour if that! |

Since we're on the subject I thought I'd mention I saw the family of the victim from the Tudor bridge over New Seward accident from about two years ago or so. They were placing a memorial or visiting it on the bridge the other day. Kinda sad to see and felt bad for almost having completely forgotten about it. That girls life is completely messed up because of texting while driving (and then trying to hide it). |
