I shoot weddings with 5D Classic's and 7D's! Even 5D2's would be a big step up for me! If I didn't feel like I needed 4 bodies (2 shooters), then I'd definitely trade in my 4 bodies (plus money out of pocket) for two 5D3's. They look incredible!

So we went to work on some more of the interior last night. We are going to do more of a proper photoshoot of everything later, but I thought I would go ahead and get some pictures up of the progress today.
Last night we... Wrapped and installed the new GTSpec D Shaped wheel covered by JPM to match the interior.
JPM wrapped the new 3 way A-Pillars in black Alcantara with black double stitching. Hertz 165XL tweeters (matched with the 6.5" woofers in sealed doors) and Tang Band W3-1364SA 3" Bamboo Cone Driver mid-range. Finished the dash treatment by extending the black Alcantara to the tops of the doors. Pictures really do not do the interior justice. Alex and Joe at JPM Coachworks have done a fantastic job. It completely changes the entire feel of the car when you sit in it. I could not be any happier at this point. Now we just have to get the second Sparco seat in and I need to pick up another 4 way amp and JBL MS-8 processor. We have something special in mind for that processor as well... |

I really like the way this is setup on the Apillar. I assume this was all custom fiberglass/wood enclosure then wrapped in Alcantara?

You guessed it! Wood trim ring with fiberglass work then wrapped by JPM. They were a pain to wrap too. Alex at JPM did an awesome job on them.

Have you thought about continuing the alcantara to include the door cards? I HATE how the cheap plastic scratches with the slightest brush of a leg or finger nail in mine. Same for the glove compartment.

I did and I agree with you on the plastic. It sucks for scratches. However, I didn't want to make the interior too soft by covering everything.

Yeah, good point. High traffic areas, so to speak, so they might not last very long. I just hate opening my doors and having them look like a gaggle of chickens ran amuck all over them.

I think leather on the door cards/glove compartment would put it over the top!

Yeah they look really nice but you can still see a few imperfections up close, but who's going to be looking other than some car show judges?? |

The fiberglass work was done by a friend of mine as well. Ryan Slade at SladeAudio.com. It is insane out symmetrical the units are actually. You can really tell since we used the same patterns for both driver and passenger side a pillars. I can't believe those worked for both. |

Hey Rob, any plans for a new transmission anytime soon?? Will you be going for the PAR setup like Xluben or go with PPG's? STi swap maybe??
I plan on building my wrx and I'll probably be getting an ATP GTX3071, just wondering what would be he most effective, both in terms of performance and cost for me to go with. Excited for new developments with your car bud! |

Real talk. Alex has been talking with me over the last month getting stuff planned out to outfit my car with a few JPM touches. And I live in ALASKA. What it boiled down to was it worth shipping my items to get them wrapped, or worth it to buy new OEM pieces to replace what I currently have. Alex, worked hard on looking up my OEM parts through his local dealer and getting me a quote promptly. JPM definitely goes above and beyond for their customers. |

Who does the sewing at jpm coachworks? I want to shake her hand!
That tweeter on the A pillar is cool, but obstructs vision a little. I need that vision to run over children... |

So previously, I was running a 2 way passive front stage with custom a pillars that housed a single tweeter. As you can see by the new interior upgrade, it is now a 3 way system that is going to be setup active.
To setup a 3 way active front stage, you have to get an external processing unit and delete the passive crossovers. I decided to use the new JBL MS-8 as it has an onboard amp that can power the tweeters and mid range on the pillar while I can power the mid basses in the doors and the sub off my existing amp. The plan is to get another 4x100 full range class D (probably another Hertz HDP 4) to power the pillars, but this will work in the meantime to get everything running. The JBL MS-8 is a pretty impressive piece of equipment. It came down the Audison Bit One and this unit, but the ease of setup really sold me on the MS-8 along with some reviews from some fellow audio geeks. The unit comes with a LCD control display and you actually wear a set of headphones with mics on each side to setup the listening positions in the car. Everything is hooked up and sounds great so far. I still have a lot of tuning to do before it will be where I want it. But it fits under the seat and gets the job done. Here is a teaser of some of the fab work I am in process of completing for the LCD display. It is going to sit flush mounted to the center console where the S drive would usually be. Alex and Joe actually do all of the custom work. A couple of dudes that really know their stuff! And the a pillar speakers do not block any vision at all...even with my lower Sparco setup. |
