need an alternate DD
Anybody have or know someone looking to sell a cheap car that runs well? My 88 subaru GL is on its last leg and I'm having to replace parts on the regular. I'd much rather simply junk it and start fresh with something that only needs minimal repairs. Volkswagen, honda, subie, pretty much whatever will do. Any suggestions would help, hit me with a PM. Thanks.

Look for a Honda Civic HX 5-speed. They are pretty hard to find, but they use a special lean burn engine, 40+ MPG is super easy, Vtec kicks in at low RPM like 3Kish, and they use really tall gears, so they are great for cruising. I picked mine up for under 2K but most of the ones I was looking at were 2-3.5K roughly. All of the 90's civic use multi-link suspension, so you can easily mod them for fantastic handling, or comfort.

looking to spend between 2500-4000. the 88 GL made its way to pick and pull on a tow truck today. Thing wouldn't start yesterday and with all the parts it needed, really wasn't worth the hassle of driving to the pick and pull to pull the parts. I work construction in the mornings, so it would be nice to have something with some space in the back to throw tools or lengthy wood. I used to roll VW's before the subaru's, had an 04 R32 before I bought my first subaru. Might look into a jetta or golf. Let me know if you guys have any other suggestions than the "bus." Working two jobs plus remodeling my own home really doesn't allow for waiting on buses and trains.

I've got a '92 turbo legacy wagon. It's not the prettiest car and definitely shows its age. I just did the timing belt, had heads resurfaced and a new head gasket. It still needs a valve adjustment and injectors looked at (replaced or repaired). Has a td04, tmic, mbc, and wrx front seats. I've been thinking about selling it so i can get my swapped impreza running again. If you're interested and you haven't found anything by mid january, i'll probably be ready to let it go.
