Default wrx spoiler and sti spoiler

Other than the weight difference , is there any difference in downforce application as i've seen some sti changed their spoiler to a wrx one.

and is the sti one adjustable?

thanks a lot guys

STi spoiler is not adjustable. Yes, it does provide more downforce than the WRX spoiler, but only in noticeable amounts at high speeds.

unless you track your car alot, you probably won't notice too much. if its going to be a dd, just get it based on what you think looks better.

IIRC, it's something like 95 mph.

Yeah, it is a comparison to an evo. What it shows though is that at two different speeds the relative downforce (or lack of in the evo's case) generated.

In the thread where i THINK Craig found those pictures, somebody mentioned that the Impreza cabin was too big for any clean air to reach a low mounted wing like the wrx one. I'm pretty sure this is true, given that there was another picture that illustrated air running directly to the STI wing with the help of the roof vane. Otherwise the air runs a little too high.

I think it sums up to the following:
NO roof vane + STI spoiler = some downforce
roof vane + STI spoiler = more downforce (as shown in the picture craig posted)
anything out there + wrx spoiler = questionable as to whether it produces a good amount of downforce (negative lift).

Do a search on aerodynamics. you might end up with a good document or two to read as well.

Cheers,

Alex
