Default Fight it or not fight it?

Ok I got popped for doing 40 in a 30. I have another tick that that should drop from my driving record next month. (I got it 3yrs ago) The ticket is for 86 bucks, the question is, should I get one of the lawyers people here have mentioned to fight it. Cost of the lawyer is more than 300.00 bucks, or just pay it and get on w/my life? If this was my second ticket, I would be fighting it.

thanks
James

Hire Jeannie Mucklestone of Mucklestone & Mucklestone (https://www.mucklestone.com)

It'll cost you a few hundred bucks but she'll get your ticket dismissed and you'll save money on insurance in the long run.

ok seriously i think the cops are cranking down on cars that have that fast look, i have went for 1 and a half without getting pulled over or even looked at by cops, but now it seems they are tailgating me and pulling me over every chance they get and im getting stupid tickets for like 7 mph over. Is it the silver with the hood scoop and tail or are they just "enforcing the law"

Highly doubtful [at least around my parts]. I thought I was busted by the moto-police. I saw him with the radar gun. As soon as I passed him, he put the radar gun away and sped off towards me. To my surprise, he pulled over the SUV behind me...which was probably doing ~45 in a 35 mph zone.

More than likely it's just enforcing the speed limit and you happen to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.

you can always sighn the, "i wont get another ticket for 12 months" form at your hearing, if you guys still got that out there. hearing officers/judges always have the ability to withhold judication also (no points).

btw. can you believe a Florida state trooper wrote me a ticket for not having a stock muffler? I got it dismissed w/o a lawyer of course. 9 out of 10 Americans hate cops, I wonder why?

It's just you. Perhaps the coupe. I've got a silver sedan and I've blown past three cops on the freeway in the last two weeks. Twice I was doing 85+ in a 70, third time ~80 in a 70 and then stood on the gas once there was somebody running 'interference'.
A guy following me got nailed the other day. I zipped past a cop in the median at ~7mph over and then the person 1/2 mile back got pulled over.

PS. I like cops.

Remember though you can only do a deferral every couple of years. I did one on an accident ticket a year ago and when I got a speeding this year I couldn't. Sucked.

Go with Mucklestone, I've heard awesome things about her.

As several people already said *every* ticket is worth fighthing because the more you have in your record the more difficult is it to fight them, so start early.

BTW, many people use Jeannie but from what I've seen the "cheap" guys and Jeannie do exactly the same stuff. IMHO it's not worth paying more than $200.

Good luck!
