Ever since I drove on the beach, I've been considering lifting my impreza more and more. At first I was just joking around because it would have been nice for the beach, but it would make driving on PA's roads all around much better. Especially the gravel/dirt ones

I am seriously considering Forester struts/springs/ect for when the ones in my car now, go up. I have pretty good clearance in my stock Impreza L as it is, especially since the front sits higher than the rear (for some reason). That gives me pretty decent clearance up front, but a few more inches all around would be the bees-knees.

Too bad DirtyImpreza doesn't have a mobile app........

What year is yours? Some of the model years have issues with more than a certain amount of lift ('08+ limit is ~2").

I don't plan on reaching the "limit", but what needs to be done/replaced/upgraded after that "limit" is reached?

Just curious

Ah, not a clue on your MY then, but IIRC, the "limit" is more forgiving in the older MYs. In most cases it's the CVs that have issues, IIRC.

To run Foz struts you're also going to need to replace the rear trailing arm brackets and install the spacers in the subframe that lower the drivetrain back to the height it should be at to avoid damaging the CV joints. I'd really only ever recommend this to someone that is looking to do some serious trail type off roading.

If you want a more mild lift run the foz struts and Impreza springs.

Or rebuild (get them rebuilt) your struts and run with some King springs. Winning?!

Thanks for the info guys. This is more of a future thing though, and I will look further into things/research more when the time gets closer.

I also wouldn't want much lift anyway. Two inches would probably be plenty.

Just go with a smaller spacer on top of the strut, perhaps. A one inch spacer.

Can't rebuild the stock KYB twin tubes, only the monotube inverted STi struts. That or Feal inserts can be rebuilt.

When your ready to go just drop me a line and I'll get ya sorted.

2" lift actually is pretty substantial in terms of increasing ground clearance. Nothing wrong with lift via spacers, but some lift from springs is nice as you get the benefits of added suspension travel.

Its all about spring rate.

People make the mistake of increasing the rate too much.

Yes you want to be a touch stiffer to help absorb impacts, but you can run a taller spring with barely an increase in rate.

You just change the wire thickness and spacing.

Someone should make a coilover adapter mounts for the suby knuckle/pillar so you can just run regular bypass coiovers from fox or king.

Would drastically open up the options.

Maybe I'ill do it lol. Gimme lots of money and be a guinea pig. Ill break out the welder.

*nevermind... forgot there was no upper a-arm. Just run a longer spring.

anyone heard of an adjustable-ride-height mod? probably ridic $ and time, but just curious.

how sweet would it be to have a range of ground clearance options........ mmm

Not mine. Just saw it in my town and it blew me away. Made me love the new outbacks (wasn't a big fan before)

That gray 5th gen is owned by a guy on SubaruOutback.org.

King springs w/ 1" Subtle spacers if I remember correctly.

Actually... Kings with primitive rally spacers. Same difference.

That's FLHRSI on subaruoutback.org and here on NASIOC. I recognize the car... He had to jump through some hoops to get that bullbar installed. It was made by an Australian company, and there are some differences in the front bumper, so it needed a bit of work to fit. IIRC, he's lifted the same way as mine.

And uh... the 2010-13 Outbacks are 4th Gen.

Here: https://maps.google.com/?ll=28.34592...09645&t=h&z=17

And Ocala Nat. Forest, and wherever there's an access road or powerline trail. That's one reason i liked the Outback. I can just go exploring anywhere. If the car fits down the trail, I can probably make it to where it goes...

Lame videos (more fun making them than watching them!) from the same location:
