3-day Day Trip - get me out of New England!
My friend and I (female friend) want to head out on a 3-day trip this weekend (returning Monday).
I want to get the hell out of CT (and preferably out of New England entirely). I don't want to drive - I want to drink - so guessing train or greyhound. I am kind of tempted to suggest somewhere down south - like Philly or some other place in PA. ( don't think I have been to Philly before) Or the opposite - head up to Montreal. Where to go...Any suggestions? IB gotohell!

Stay in New England, and head to Boston or even better, the Cape. Fireworks everywhere, and good times. You might have a pretty tough time getting lodging on the Cape this late, though. The Delaware shore is nice, too.

Any particular places in Delaware? (does not have to be 4st of July related either - I almost prefer it doesn't) BTW - Wherever we go, we don't necissarily want to have to do any driving... so a city/busy town would probably what we want. |

Fly to Idaho and you'll wish you stayed in New England.

July 1st is Canada day, so it's a holiday weekend here too.
How hard is it for you to get to Niagara Falls? It's becoming sort of a mini-Las Vegas. |

Still looking for ideas of places to go if anyone else wants to post up. "Canada Day"? What is that? Like the equivalent of Kwanzaa - "lets just make up a holiday near this other more famous holiday just to give our people something to do!"?? (BTW, I <3 Canada, so I'm just teasing) Any other suggestions??? |

I thought Connecticut and NY exchanged prisoners every long weekend. Aren't you obligated by state law or something to go to NY this weekend?

Go to NYC. It's not NE, you can AMtrack there, and they have awesome public transportation once you get there. There are also great things to see, and something for everyone.
You said you live in CT so you can save $ and take the commuter rail in instead of amtrack, and parking is wicked cheap there. Have fun! Ben |

Philly's more fun when you sleepover...
Take Amtrak to 30th street station. Check into nice hotel. See historic sites, go to the Art Museum, see the Liberty Bell, Independence Hall, etc then take the "friend" out for some nice dinners, hit up some swanky bars, repeat till monday. That's a fun weekend. Lots going on this weekend too - like free fireworks at Penn's Landing on saturday night. Plenty of info here: http://www.gophila.com/ PM me if you want some nice restaurants and bars to hit. |

It will be crowded, and it will be hot. But there is lots too do, and you can escape the crowds if you go to the right places (like the Art Museum). Or go see an Imax movie at the Franklin Institute. And there are tons of small, good restaurants and bars that shouldn't be too bad.
If you don't like crowds, avoid the Penn's Landing fireworks. |

Another option for you (at least for tomorrow) is to goto ALMS and just stop drinking at like 4pm so someone can drive home... |
